AC Milan v Udinese
🏟
Saturday 13th August – 5:30PM KO
This will be AC Milan’s first test as they try to defend a Scudetto for the first time in over a decade. Based on the form of Udinese last season it may not be an easy test.
The key factor is that Udinese now have a different coach and only time will tell if they’ll continue to be more attacking or if they’ll revert to type and sit back.
The Rossoneri will be extremely motivated to stick a few goals away on Saturday afternoon. Many pundits and fans have confidently placed them behind Juventus and Inter when it comes to Serie A predictions.
That will likely be all the motivation that Stefano Pioli’s side needs and the likes of Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud will want to get off the mark straight away. There could also be a start for new boy Charles De Ketelaere who will be desperate for a debut goal.
If Udinese decide to play and perform like they were under Gabriele Cioffi in the second half of last season, then there could be goals at both ends of this one.
If they don’t Milan will likely still have enough to get a few goals of their own in front of their own fans in a packed San Siro stadium.

Lecce v Inter
🏟
Saturday 13th August – 7:45PM KO
This is a fixture that comes with happy memories for Inter fans. Antonio Conte’s first game in charge of the club was away at Lecce on the opening day of the season and the Nerazzurri ran out 4-0 winners. There was also a goal for Romelu Lukaku on his debut.
He’ll be making his second debut for the club after returning on loan from Chelsea and it is extremely hard to envisage Inter not netting a few times and running out as winners in Puglia.
They are going to have the Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez partnership in place and they will be able to bring on better players in midfield if there happens to be any sort of issue in regards to chance creation. The chances of Denzel Dumfries being sold before this game are very low too.
The reason that both teams could score is that after the way that Inter’s summer has developed with the failed pursuits of Paulo Dybala and Gleison Bremer, it would be extremely typical of them to fall behind early on against Lecce or have a spell of serious uncertainty during the game.
Lecce sold their main goalscorer, Massimo Coda, this summer but they have got multiple options to start upfront which could cause a surprise. One is AC Milan loanee Lorenzo Colombo who would be desperate to put one past Inter.
Lecce getting anything from the game would be a major shock, but an early goal in front of their own fans on their return to Serie A against a chaos-prone Inter side, seems quite plausible.

Salernitana v Roma
🏟
Sunday 14th August – 7:45PM KO
There will be an immense amount of anticipation in that Roma away end when this match kicks off on Sunday evening.
The Giallorossi have had a really good summer and having only lost Henrikh Mkhitaryan from the starting eleven, they can now boast Paulo Dybala, Georginio Wijnaldum and Nemanja Matic to bolster the team.
Since the arrival of Dybala, the quartet of the Argentine, Lorenzo Pellegrini, Tammy Abraham and Nicolo Zaniolo has looked extremely dangerous and there could be a lot more goals in this team than last season.
It is likely that they will all start, or at least three of them. Add into the mix that Salernitana have added an unholy amount of players to their squad this season, and Roma could be up against an extremely disjointed side.
If a lot of the new players click then Salernitana could be okay this season but it will take some time and Roma might spy an opportunity to get a few goals and lay down a real marker.
The aim is certainly to get into the top four this season but Jose Mourinho will be telling his side to start the season like you’re fighting for the Scudetto.
They’ll need better reinforcements at the back for that to be the case in the long run and in terms of major signings, they’re likely finished now.
That being said, they should have far too much for Davide Nicola’s Salernitana side on Sunday.
