Brage v Vasteras
🏟
Saturday 29th October – 12:00PM KO
With just two games of the season to go, this game should have meant a lot at both ends of the Superettan table but, instead, it means very little. That doesn’t mean the game does not represent good value for a bet, though.
Last season, Brage finished the campaign very strongly and began the 2022 season expecting to challenge for the top three and potential Superettan promotion. However, a terrible run of form has seen them drift from the Allsvenskan/Superettan promotion/relegation playoff place ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures.
The home team’s most recent outing was a 3-2 defeat to champions-elect Brommapojkarna on Tuesday. That loss has extended their winless run of form to five matches and they have won just one of their last seven in the league.
In order to finish in the top three, it would require both Osters and Skovde to suffer back-to-back defeats to finish the season and for Brage to win both of their matches.
Vasteras, on the other hand, have made their final couple of matches mean very little, too, but for very different reasons and in very different ways. The home team sit six points clear of third-bottom and the relegation playoff place with just six points to play for, thanks to a well-timed and much-needed run of winning form.
The visitors’ 4-1 hammering of bottom-of-the-table Dalkurd last weekend made it three victories in their last four matches as they are now set to confirm Superettan survival.
Given the form of the two sides making this game a bit of a ‘free-hit’ for both, there is value in backing the team lower in the table.

Norrby v Osters
🏟
Saturday 29th October – 12:00PM KO
Unlike a few games that have become ‘dead rubbers’ in the final two weeks of the Superettan season, this remains a huge game that affects both ends of the table.
Norrby begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting third-from-bottom and in the promotion/relegation playoff place, in danger of dropping into the third and regional tier of Swedish football. Osters, on the other hand, sit in the Allsvenskan/Superettan promotion/relegation playoff place as they challenge for a return to the top-flight for the first time since 2006.
The home team come into this on the back of a 2-1 defeat away to Jonkopings Sodra in their most recent outing, last week. That was their third successive defeat and they are now winless in their last five matches. That run of form means they sit just a point above Ostersund, who are in the bottom two and the automatic relegation places, and four behind OIS, who sit in 13th place, above the relegation playoff.
Osters’ most recent outing was a frustrating 2-2 draw at home to the aforementioned OIS. Whilst they could have had a better hold of third-place, under the management of Srdjan Tufegdzic, they are now unbeaten in their last four matches needing just two points to confirm third place.
The four-time Allsvenskan winners were always expecting to challenge for promotion and they will be pleased with their impressive second-half of the season that has put them in this position. They should come out on top in this one.

AFC Eskilstuna v Halmstad
🏟
Saturday 29th October – 2:00PM KO
These have been two of the most entertaining teams to watch in the 2022 Superettan season and, with just two weeks left of the season, they could serve up a thriller with something still on the line.
AFC Eskilstuna come into this on the back of a 1-1 draw away to Landskrona in their most recent outing, last weekend. The home team started the season with four successive victories but they have been inconsistent throughout the rest of the campaign.
They head into the closing weeks sitting firmly in the middle-of-the-table but they have remained enjoyable for the neutral with 100 goals coming in their 28 matches so far this season.
Halmstad, following relegation last season, kept on with Magnus Haglund in the dugout. They have been top-of-the-table for much of the campaign but a difficult few months have seen the visitors make a bit of a mess of getting over the line.
They remain firmly inside the top two and the automatic promotion places, needing just two points to confirm their return to the Allsvenskan for the 2023 campaign. However, their goalless draw at home to Orebro last week means they are winless in four matches and they have won just two of their last nine Superettan matches.
Halmstad have remained high-scoring with 56 goals scored being only bettered by champions-elect Brommapojkarna and the expected goals for of both sides are high. So, regardless of the match result, this one will be worth keeping an eye on.

Trelleborg v Brommapojkarna
🏟
Sunday 30th October – 2:00PM KO
There are two games left of the season. There has been 28 Superettan match days in 2022 – but this could be the most important one with the champions potentially being crowned.
The opposition standing in the champions-elect’s way is Trelleborg. The hosts come into this on the back of a 2-0 defeat away to struggling but still fighting Ostersund in their most recent outing, last weekend. That defeat means they have now lost three of their last four matches.
That poor run of form means they begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting six points adrift of third-placed Osters, who occupty the Allsvenskan/Superettan relegation/promotion playoff. It would be understating it to suggest it has been quite a deflating end to the campaign for Trelleborg.
They now face a Brommapojkarna side that have already confirmed their automatic promotion and return to Sweden’s top-flight but can all but seal the league title with a victory in this one, too.
Under the management of Christer Mattiasson, they have gone on an incredible run in the second-half of the season to ensure back-to-back promotions, following their ascension from the third and regional level of Swedish football just last season.
The visitors have on such an impressive run of form by playing an entertaining and attractive style of football that has them as the highest scorers in the division, notching 59 goals in 28 matches so far.
Given the form of the two sides and what could be won this weekend, it is unlikely they will suffer from a hangover from last week and they should get another entertaining victory.
