AC Milan v Monza
🏟
Saturday 22nd October – 5:00PM KO
This could be the exact sort of game that AC Milan want to have when the fixtures are coming thick and fast. Despite their upturn in form, Monza are one of the poorer teams in Serie A and they would do extremely well to get anything from the San Siro on Sunday.
The Rossoneri seem to be weathering their storm of injuries very well so far and even though Mike Maignan has suffered a fresh set back will be out for a few more weeks, they are getting players back from injury and will get a host back after the World Cup.
Regardless of the fact that they will be without the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Alexis Saelemarkers, Davide Calabria, Maignan and Alessandro Florenzi, the Rossoneri have got more than enough to beat this Monza side on Sunday.
There could be some rotation that sees Olivier Giroud drop to the bench for some much-deserved rest but when Rafael Leao is on the pitch and he has the home crowd roaring them on, there is very little that can be done to stop him.
Milan are almost certainly going to take the lead and it is hard to picture anything Monza can do to get back into the game.

Fiorentina v Inter
🏟
Saturday 22nd October – 7:45PM KO
Coming into the 2022/23 season, this could have looked like an extremely tricky fixture for Inter. This season though, Fiorentina have really struggled to impress, and they do not look like they’ll be enjoying any European trips next season.
Their Europa Conference League campaign is going well so far, but their league form has been well below par, and it seems that Vincenzo Italiano’s way of playing is no longer chiming with his players.
They are also going to be without Real Madrid loanee Luka Jovic for this one which means their goal threat is limited even further.
As for Inter, they come into this one having recently recaptured their form from last season and a number of key players now seem to be operating to their best ability.
The headline acts for them right now are Alessandro Bastoni, Lautaro Martinez, and Nicolo Barella. The latter two have both scored in each of the last two games, the 3-3 draw against Barcelona in the Champions League and the 2-0 victory over Salernitana in Serie A.
The Nerazzurri are desperate to close the gap at the top of the table which formed whilst they were in a seriously disappointing patch of form earlier in the season.

Udinese v Torino
🏟
Sunday 23rd October – 11:30AM KO
There is a decent chance that this won’t be a thriller. Udinese have actually been a much more entertaining side than normal recently, but they showed in the 0-0 draw against Lazio that they cannot entertain every week.
They are definitely a better team than Torino but there are few teams that are harder to thrash than Torino. The Granata are not up to a great deal this season under Ivan Juric having lost key players and seen inadequate replacements come in, but they have maintained their rigidity and determination.
It will take Udinese’s creative players such as Roberto Pereyra and Gerard Deulofeu a fair while to break Torino down in Udine and they could try in vain all day. If they do though, don’t expect Torino to come flying out and force an equaliser.
They lack any real menace in attack after losing Andrea Belotti and the game plan always seems to be grabbing a goal from a set piece or a cross into the box.
That is another reason why both teams scoring is unlikely to happen. If Torino do manage to grab the lead early on, or at any point, they are going to frustrate Udinese beyond belief and stop them from getting anything from the game.

Atalanta v Lazio
🏟
Sunday 23rd October – 5:00PM KO
There is one overriding factor in Atalanta’s favour coming into this game. Ciro Immobile has suffered a serious injury and will not be back in action until after the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
It is no secret that he is the absolute talisman of this Lazio team and he is the man that so many of the goals come from. That is not the only reason why it is such a blow for him to be gone, though.
Lazio are woefully unequipped when it comes to replacing Immobile. The expectation is that Felipe Anderson will be in the centre of the attack, presumably in a false nine role, with Mattia Zaccagni and Pedro either side of him.
As soon as Immobile is injured. Maurizio Sarri is forced to play a winger as his striker or head to the academy. This is one of the main reasons why Atalanta will really fancy chances on Sunday in Bergamo.
Beyond that, La Dea are in superb form and have plenty of players who have found a new level in recent weeks. Brandon Soppy has settled in excellently and Ademola Lookman is in a super vein of form.
They are harder to break down than before, and Lazio will be hardpressed to get anything here dispute such a good start to the season.

AS Roma v Napoli
🏟
Sunday 23rd October – 7:45PM KO
This is the headline fixture for the weekend in Serie A and it sees the league leaders travelling to a Roma side that have got themselves into the top four and will now be looking to cement themselves there.
The Derby della Sole sometimes goes under the radar outside of Italy, but these two really do hate eachother. There will be a superb atmosphere at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday evening with both sets of supporters doing their bit.
As for the action on the pitch, Napoli bring goals to any game. They will come here knowing that they have been more impressive than Roma so far. They will be desperate to get that first goal and avoid Roma frustrating them.
Jose Mourinho could revert to defence here from the start and try to weather the early storm that Luciano Spalletti’s side bring, but Roma will have to come out and play at some stage and that is when the match could start to look like a cup tie with end-to-end action.
There is a hell of a lot of talent on the pitch with the likes of Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, Giacomo Raspadori, Tammy Abraham, Lorenzo Pellegrini and Nicolo Zaniolo. With any luck, they’ll all be scoring and creating for our entertainment.
