Saturday’s 3/1 European Football Accumulator Tips
Borussia Mönchengladbach v Hoffenheim
Borussia-Park is the venue for what should be an absolute goal-fest between Borussia Mönchengladbach and TSG Hoffenheim.
The home side have really improved of late, having started the season very poorly. They had won three of their previous four games before their 4-2 defeat to Borussia Dortmund last weekend.
In particular, there has been a marked improvement in the final third as Gerardo Seoane’s side have been scoring freely, with 23 goals in their last four matches across all competitions, showcasing their abilities up front. Alassane Plea and Tomas Cvancara have been a large part of that recent success and it would be no surprise to see them involved again here.
However, despite their good play from an attacking perspective, Borussia Mönchengladbach have been woeful in defence at times this season, conceding 27 goals this term which is the joint second-worst in the league. If nothing else, Die Fohlen have been value for money from an entertainment perspective.
TSG Hoffenheim have struggled at home this season, collecting just four points from their six matches, however, it’s been a different story on the road as Pellegrino Matarazzo’s side have been scintillating, playing an attacking and dynamic brand of football. Much like their hosts, Die Kraichgauer games have seen plenty of goals as they’ve scored 24 while conceding 21 at the other end, and encouragingly for this selection, 12 of their 14 games this season have resulted in both teams finding the back of the net.
There is everything to suggest that trend continues in this one, especially given the head-to-head record between these sides, with the last seven consecutive games seeing both score. Young Maximilian Beier has been superb, aided by the experience of Wout Weghorst and Andrej Kramaric, and all three can influence proceedings here.
This one could easily see a couple of goals at either end and given how open these sides are, taking both teams to score is the sensible option here.
Bayern Munich v Union Berlin
It has been a tale of contrasting seasons for these two sides as Bayern welcome Union to the Allianz Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Champions Bayern Munich once again find themselves at the top end of the table challenging for the title, whereas Union see themselves just one point off the bottom following a run of 10 league games without a win, with nine of those being consecutive losses before a 1-1 draw against Augsburg last time out.
It has been a disastrous campaign for the side from the capital and they seem a shadow of the side that finished in the Champions League places last season. Bayern, on the other hand, have been brilliant as expected and only Xabi Alonso and his miraculous Leverkusen stand between the Bavarians and top spot.
Summer signing Harry Kane has proved to be well worth his price tag, with the England skipper netting 18 goals in 12 league games. It is no secret that Bayern enjoy scoring goals at the Allianz Arena and they have scored 27 goals in six games at home to a seasonal average of 4.5 goals per home game.
With everything in mind, it seems that the overs goal line looks the most promising for this one. Over 3.5 looks particularly enticing at great odds.
Real Madrid v Granada
Domestic and European giants Real Madrid welcome Granada in the 5.30pm clash in La Liga on Saturday.
Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid side returned to the top of La Liga last weekend following their comfortable victory at Cadiz. That win last time out extended Los Blancos’ unbeaten run in the league to eight games and 11 in all competitions. In their 14 league games so far, Real have seen 40 goals scored to a seasonal average of 2.86 goals per game.
Saturday’s opponents, Granada, find themselves as polar opposites as they sit in 19th place, just four points off the bottom, having only picked up one win so far this campaign.
The side from Andalusia have shipped the second-most goals in the league, conceding 33 in 14 games which is an average of 2.36 per game. The last five meetings between these two sides have all followed the same pattern, with Real winning all five, scoring 13 goals in that time.
Betting-wise for this game, the overs is one we are looking into. With Real scoring plenty and Granada leaky at the back, over 2.5 goals looks enticing given the free-scoring nature of Real.
Osasuna v Real Sociedad
Osasuna will welcome Real Sociedad to the Estadio El Sadar as the evening kick-off in La Liga promises to deliver a classic here.
Jagoba Arrasata’s side enjoyed a really successful campaign last year as they finished 7th in La Liga, qualifying for the Europa Conference League in the process, while also reaching the final of the Copa del Rey where they would lose out to Real Madrid. However, this season has been poor in comparison as they were dumped out of their European adventure in the qualifying rounds and currently sit 14th in the league having now completed a third of the season.
That poor form has not been helped by the hosts’ troubles upfront, as they have simply not delivered in the final third, especially at home where they’ve only managed six goals in seven games. Things don’t get any easier this weekend as Real Sociedad are in town looking to pile on the misery, especially as they’ve enjoyed plenty of success at this venue in recent times, winning the last five fixtures, and the previous three to nil.
Imanol Alguacil’s side arrive here fresh from their exploits in midweek having drawn with RB Salzburg in the Champions League, despite having already qualified for the knockout stages. The visitors are also enjoying plenty of success domestically having lost just once in their last five matches, albeit to Barcelona who scored in the dying embers of that one.
They’ve also secured safe passage to the next round of the Copa del Rey and they’ll look to build on that positive momentum here, a venue where they have profited down the years, not least the 2-0 victory they recorded last term.
Not only do the away side pose a threat going forward with the likes of Japanese star Takefusa Kubo, but they are fairly solid at the back too, boasting one of the better defensive records in La Liga. It would be a surprise if Alguacil’s side lost this one and they are backed to get a result.
Given current form, and indeed their excellent record at this venue, it’s difficult to turn down Real Sociedad getting something here, so they are taken in the double chance market to win or draw.
