Havaila to Win @ 4.50

HAVAILA is a worthy ante-post favourite for this prestigious end-of-season staying handicap chase prize. The Gary Moore-trained seven-year-old has scored four times over fences, from 12 attempts. The son of Le Havre had been steadily progressive, prior to accelerated improvement in 2026 - winning his last two runs in easy fashion.

He is up 10lb in the weights after a facile success over an extended 3m4f trip, but could yet have more to come - especially on this preferred quick ground. Also, a course winner, he ought to go extremely close.

Livin On Luco E/W @ 9.00

LIVIN ON LUCO has impressed in four staying handicap chases this season - including an excellent fourth in the G3 Welsh Grand National from this handicap mark of 129. He was absolutely cruising in an extended 3m6f event at Exeter last time, before just finding one too good.

A reproduction of that fine would give him every chance of hitting the placings at fair each-way odds, for a pair of trainers who landed the Scottish National last week.

Gabbys Cross E/W @ 101.00

Let’s talk about the negative, first. It’s not guaranteed that GABBYS CROSS will definitely run here, after pulling-up at the Scottish National last week, so I would potentially wait until declarations. If he does run, I feel his current odds of 100-1 are insulting. He placed on quick ground here in January, before running second-of-three at Ascot.

Both of those efforts were fair and looked like he would appreciate stepping up in distance. If you discard the poor run last time, which may have been due to heavy ground, then he isn’t out of running a big race for a placing at huge odds.
