🥇 Lewandowski to Win Golden Boot
Kylian Mbappe is priced at odds on to finish as La Liga Top Goalscorer, which is simply not backable over the course of the season. However, being so short, he accounts for a lot of the market, which has worked to inflate prices elsewhere and create value.
Given how much talent Real Madrid have in their ranks, the goals are likely to be shared around. Artem Dovbyk and Alexander Sorloth topped the La Liga scoring charts, but have both completed summer transfers.
Dovbyk picked has moved to Roma in Serie A, while Sorloth finished just one goal behind the Ukrainian and has completed a move to Atletico Madrid. With that in mind, the race for the Golden Boot should once again go down to the wire.
Lewandowski had his most prolific season in his career under Hansi Flick, so should be looking forward to playing under the German once more. The Polish international managed 83 goals in 71 games under Flick in total. Lewandowski managed 19 domestic goals last season, ranking third for the Golden Boot.
He should be an undisputed starter for the upcoming campaign, and the allocated penalty taker. In a more attacking system that caters to his strengths, Lewandowski will be looking to build on what was an underwhelming 2023/24 season in Spain.
🏆 Robert Lewandowski to win the Golden Boot
🏹 Budimir to Win Golden Boot
Ante Budimir netted 17 goals in La Liga last season for Osasuna, ranking him the fifth-highest scorer. He accumulated the fourth-most xG in the league, only behind Jorgen Strand Larsen, Artem Dovbyk and Robert Lewandowski.
Strand Larsen and Dovbyk have both transferred clubs over the summer, and will subsequently not feature in La Liga for the upcoming campaign. With bet365 offering each-way prices, backing longshot outsiders is a sensible strategy – if he finishes in the top four for total goals scored, this bet will pay out at the handsome odds of 17.5/1.
Given that Budimir ended the season just two goals shy of Robert Lewandowski and Jude Bellingham to breach the top four, those odds look incredibly good value. Despite not being the most recognisable name, Budimir is a vital player for Osasuna typically operating as a lone striker. Raul accumulated the second-most goals for Osasuna, with just six.
Given that Budimir managed just 29 starts last season, there is scope for his minutes to increase as the target man and penalty taker. Last season, he converted three of the four spot-kicks he took.
Osasuna have been quiet in the transfer market this summer, completing just two signings, which implies that the tactical system will be very similar, which is a positive sign for the Croatian.
🥇 Ante Budimir to win the Golden Boot
💣 Romero to Win Golden Boot
Following a disappointing previous campaign which saw them finish 14th, Sevilla have replaced head coach Quique Sanchez Flores with Garcia Pimienta from Las Palmas. In addition, veteran striker Youssef En Nesyri has transferred to Fenerbahce, opening a window of opportunity for a new striker to emerge.
The Moroccan finished as the top scorer for Sevilla in the last two consecutive campaigns. In pre-season, 24-year-old Isaac Romero has taken up a starting role, notably scoring a brace against Fulham. Despite Kelechi Iheanacho joining from Leicester, Romero appears to be the front-runner for the striker role.
He featured towards the end of last season in La Liga, scoring four goals in 14 appearances. Before that, he had only featured for the Sevilla B team. Given how Pimienta typically opts for a more counter-attacking play style, Romero suits that well. He is tall and physical, able to play effectively on the break.
He averaged 3.64 shots per 90 last season, accumulating 7.3 xG. Although that only translated to four goals, Romero is effective at getting himself into promising positions.
With valuable experience under his belt and a larger role expected for the upcoming season, this is another price that appeals, and will pay out at 20/1 should he finish in the top four.
🥇 Isaac Romero to win the Golden Boot
