Manchester City are travelling down to Kenilworth Road on Tuesday evening where they face off against Luton in the 5th round of the FA cup. The hosts have had somewhat of a special journey in the FA cup so far, beating Everton in the 4th round thanks to a 96th minute winner from Cauley Woodrow. They also scraped through the third round against Bolton with a 2-1 win in a replay match.
Man City, the current holders of the FA Cup, bested Spurs in the fourth round also thanks to a last minute winner: a volley from a corner in the 88th minute by Nathan Ake. The previous round was more comfortable, with Man City putting five past Huddersfield.
The last time these two met in December, Man City won 2-1. However, this was after going 1-0 in the first half with a strong header from Elijah Adebayo. Despite this, Man City still dominated this match, taking 18 shots to Luton’s four, and controlling 65% of the ball.

🏆 Match stats: Man City set to cruise past Luton
Man City have been in great shape recently, losing just once over their last 25 matches in all competitions (19W 5D 1L). They often take the game to their opponents, seeing the highest average possession (65.4%), corners (7.69) and shots on target (6.65) in the Premier League.
Luton have not been performing as well, finding themselves in a relegation battle having conceded the third most goals in the league – an average of 2.04 per match. Further, they come into this match with seven injuries, including Adebayo who is their current top goalscorer.
However, Luton have caused problems for the big six at Kenilworth Road. Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw in November, Arsenal scraped a 4-3 win against them with a 97th minute winner, and recently Man United also narrowly won 2-1 despite Luton having more shots, corners and possession.
They have failed to capitalise on these results, and will need to start doing so if they are to survive their relegation battle. A win in the FA Cup against Man City would certainly inspire some confidence back into the Luton side.
Predictions:
⚽ Man City to win @ 1.25
⚽ Man City (-1 handicap) @ 1.83
⚽ Both teams to score @ 1.85
🥅 Goals stats: Alvarez and Morris to step up
Julian Alvarez is having a great season for Man City, finding himself with 15 goal involvements so far. He’s also been averaging 3.09 shots and 1.20 shots on target in the Premier League this season, the third highest of any City player. Further, in both FA Cup rounds he has seen at least one shot on target, also bagging a goal and an assist.
Carlton Morris should be leading from the front against Man City, especially following Adebayo’s injury. He has five goal involvements over his last five appearances, and has seen at least one shot on target in four of these games. He has been averaging 0.74 shots on target and 2.23 shots so far in the Premier League.
Both Alvarez and Morris look great value for a goal involvement on Tuesday evening, and backing them for a shot on target would be a great addition to your Luton v Man City Bet Builder.
Predictions:
⚽ Julian Alvarez to score or assist @ 1.83
⚽ Carlton Morris to score or assist @ 3.75
⚽ Julian Alvarez 1+ shot on target @ 1.30
⚽ Carlton Morris 1+ shot on target @ 2.10
🚩 Corners stats: Luton are great value for corners
Luton managed more corners than Man City in their last meeting, taking six corners compared to Man City’s three. Across the Premier League so far, Luton has seen an average of 5.56 corners for. When playing at Kenilworth Road this average jumps considerably to 6.77 corners per match.
In fact, in each of their last five home games, including those against tougher opponents such as Chelsea and Man United, Luton have seen at least seven corners. Luton have seen lots of goals come from corners having scored the second most goals from headers in the league, and show no signs of slowing down.
Predictions:
⚽ Over 2.5 Luton corners @ 1.44
⚽ Over 3.5 Luton corners @ 2.10
⚽ Over 4.5 Luton corners @ 3.60
🛑 Fouls stats: Bell in for a tough time on Tuesday
Amari Bell has been averaging 1.03 fouls per game as a left back in the Premier League so far this season, but seems to foul more against the bigger clubs. Bell committed two fouls against Newcastle, three against Man United, and a further three against Brighton.
Perhaps more noteworthy is that Bell also committed three in his last game against Man City, all three coming against Phil Foden who was playing right wing. Foden has won an average of 1.49 fouls per game in the Premier League, exploiting his pace and technical ability to draw his opponents in to make silly challenges. Also due to attack down Man City’s right wing is Bernardo Silva, who has won 0.8 fouls per game so far.
Bell has now fouled 11 times in his last seven appearances, and looks set to extend this streak on Tuesday evening given his tough opponents.
Predictions:
⚽ Amari Bell to commit 1+ fouls @ 1.57
⚽ Amari Bell to commit 2+ fouls @ 2.88
