Liverpool v Napoli
This Champions League clash is almost entirely a dead rubber because Napoli have stormed the group by winning all five of their games so far. Liverpool have managed to win all of theirs too except for the opening game against the Azzurri.
For that reason, it would take Liverpool winning by a margin greater than the 4-1 win Napoli enjoyed at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona for the Premier League side to go through as group winners.
That points towards both teams taking it very easy and trying to avoid any injuries with a rotated squad. That being said, it is not really in the nature of either Napoli or Liverpool to just let a game go by without any real attacking intent.
That is why there are likely to still be goals in this one and it could even start to feel like a pre-season friendly where the attackers are enjoying themselves if a couple of goals go in early.
Luciano Spalletti has rotated his Napoli side extremely well so far which is why their form in all competitions has been so imperious. He will likely rotate even more here, but given the form of players like Giacomo Raspadori and Giovanni Simeone when they have come into the side, it may not even feel like it.
The contest may be lacking, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be goals.
