Netherlands showed glimpses of promise in their opener with Japan, which ended 2-2. Ronald Koeman’s side really should have secured victory, but allowed the Asian side into the contest in the final 20 minutes, which eventually led to Japan converting a corner in the dying moments.

I’m still a bit concerned about that backline, so I don’t think they keep a clean sheet, but I do think they have enough quality to beat Sweden here. 

Sweden were very fortunate to qualify for the tournament, and although their 5-1 win over Tunisia was pretty eye-catching, I think that had more to do with Tunisia being poor than Sweden being exceptional. I can see them getting a goal through their individual quality, but Koeman’s side should control the game. 

Malen had two great chances in the opening game, seeing both saved by Zion Suzuki in goal. He’s enjoyed a really strong year since moving to Roma, having scored 15 goals across just 20 appearances. I think he gets similar service again, and he can be more accurate with his efforts, having had a game to settle into the tournament.

Germany blitzed Curacao in their opening game and I think their quality shines through again here, even if it is to a lesser extent given the serious quality that exists in this Ivory Coast side.

The African nation left it late against Ecuador in their opener, striking in the final minute through Amad Diallo to collect all three points. I think they’ve got enough attacking talent to find the back of the net here, against a Germany side that aren't rock solid at the back and will take plenty of risks.

Jamal Musiala found the back of the net in the opener (who didn’t) and also scored in one of Germany’s warm-up matches. I think he’s a lot more dangerous in front of goal when playing for his country compared to Bayern Munich and has netted 10 goals across 43 caps which is a decent record for an attacking midfielder. 

Musiala scored three goals across five starts at the last European Championship too, so he’s clearly quite suited to international football.
