Saturday’s La Liga Accumulator Tips
Villarreal have shown impressive attacking form in their opening four matches of the season, averaging 2.25 goals scored per match. Their offensive prowess builds on last season’s performance, where they were one of the most progressive teams in the league – Villarreal only failed to find the back of the net in two of their 19 away games..
Despite starting only one league match so far, Ayoze Perez has already scored twice for the Yellow Submarine, so he comes into this clash in great form. His strong start has not gone unnoticed, as he recently earned a call-up to the Spanish national team under manager Luis de la Fuente.
Mallorca have proven to be a stubborn defensive unit, showing resilience at the back with two clean sheets in their early matches. Villarreal, however, enjoyed some success against Mallorca last season, managing to score in both of their head-to-head encounters. At the Son Moix Stadium last season, Villarreal managed to win 1-0.
Last season in La Liga 2, Espanyol suffered just one defeat in 23 home games. Impressive home form played a vital role in their promotion and will be essential as they look to establish themselves in the Spanish top flight.
They lost their first game at the RCDE Stadium against Real Sociedad, although they were unfortunate. Espanyol created 1.78 xGF but were unable to convert their chances, ultimately falling 1-0 despite Real Sociedad only generating 0.69 xGA
However, Espanyol bounced back against Rayo Vallecano, with a 2-1 victory. Once again, they were inventive in the attacking third, generating 1.68 xGF. Meanwhile, Alavés have struggled with poor away form, which could play into Espanyol’s hands. Last campaign, Alaves managed to win just three of their 19 away fixtures in La Liga.
Recent head-to-head encounters have favoured Espanyol. In fact, their last eight meetings at the RCDE Stadium have either ended in a victory for Espanyol or a draw.
Last season, Sevilla saw a notable uptick in goals when playing at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium, with 2.8 goals per game on home turf, compared to 2.5 goals per game when playing away. That trend seems to have continued into the new season, despite the introduction of new manager Garcia Pimienta from Las Palmas. Over 1.5 goals has landed in both home games so far for Sevilla.
While Getafe have been more conservative when playing at home, their away games last season tended to be more open. In the previous campaign, Getafe saw an average of 2.9 goals per game on the road, compared to 2.2 goals per game at the Coliseum Stadium. So far this season, Getafe have drawn all three of their matches, with two of those being goalless stalemates at home. The other was a 1-1 draw against Athletic Club in Bilbao.
The two aforementioned trends marry up nicely here to back goals. This fixture last season finished 3-0 in favour of Getafe. Sevilla remain winless in La Liga so far, and will be desperate to register a victory here to build some momentum.
