Four Premier League fixtures tonight and some good ones too. Arsenal v West Ham will take the majority of the headlines but alongside that fixture, I like the look of the game at Selhurst Park between Palace and Southampton. I have really enjoyed watching Palace this season and have been thoroughly impressed by how Patrick Vieira has completely transformed their playing style in such a short period of time. As for Southampton, well they are struggling with inconsistency and must start picking up results or risk being dragged into an unwanted relegation battle.
As ever, I have put together a Bet Builder for you guys to follow along with if you wish. Alternatively, you can create your own using my trusty Cheat Sheet which you can find further down the article. Good Luck!
Crystal Palace v Southampton Bet Builder Tips
Crystal Palace Win
Many might of thought that Palace could have struggled at the weekend against Everton. Especially as the Toffees came into the game on the back of an impressive 2-1 win over Arsenal. That couldn’t have been further from the truth however as Palace absolutely dominated the game and deservedly came away with a 3-1 victory.
Tonight they host a decimated Southampton side who arrive on the back of a 3-0 hammering at Arsenal. They lost forwards Adam Armstrong and Armando Broja to injury at the Emirates and they join Che Adams on the treatment table. It is therefore likely that Shane Long and Theo Walcott will have to form something of an emergency striker partnership which, to be honest, isn’t all that threatening. They are also having something of a goalkeeping crisis. 40-year-old Willy Caballero started at the Emirates due to the injuries of Fraser Forster and Alex McCarthy and was dreadful. He is expected to start tonight and no doubt will Palace will target him throughout. All things considered, I expect Palace to win here and at odds of 2.1 look fantastic value.
James Ward-Prowse 1+ Shots on Target
Always love backing the Saints skipper for a shot on target and he is often very good value as is the case once more tonight. Despite being dominated by Arsenal at the weekend, JWP still managed 3 shots, 1 of which landed on target. That is the beauty of selecting a player who is guaranteed to be on set-pieces as is the case with the England international.
His Cheat Sheet stats are decent too. He averages 0.51 shots on target from the 1.17 shots he attempts per game on average. All it will likely take is one freekick within 30 yards of goal tonight to see this selection ticked off such is the quality of his right foot and I fancy him to do the business this evening.
Conor Gallagher 1+ Shots on Target
The other man I will focus on is Crystal Palace star Conor Gallagher who is enjoying a prolific season with the South London club. Gallagher scored a brace against Everton to take his Premier League tally for the season to six goals. Only eight players in the entire league have now scored more than him in 2021/22, and his creative qualities are underlined by the fact he ranks ninth in the division for chances created.
I will admit prior to this season I thought Gallagher was little more than a midfield enforcer who was useful at breaking up play and giving the ball to more technically gifted individuals. How wrong could I be? he has proved this season what a marvellous footballer he is and thoroughly deserved his recent call-up to the England senior team. His Cheat Sheet stats are mightily impressive as you would expect from a man who was in amongst the top 10 scorers in the division. He averages 0.96 shots on target from the 2.33 shots he attempts and I fancy him to do the business once again this evening.
