Atalanta v AC Milan
📅
Kick Off: Friday 6th December at 19:45
🏆
Competition: Serie A
Struggling Roma host on-fire Atalanta at the Stadio Olimpico in what should be an enticing affair on Monday night.
A win for Atalanta will keep them fighting at the top of the table with Gasperini refusing to rule out a title charge, which is in stark contrast to Roma whose 13 points from 13 games represents their worst-ever start to a Serie A season.
⭐ Atalanta v AC Milan Best Bets
The home team are absolutely flying and could be a genuine runner to win Serie A this season. Gian Peiero Gasperini has been doing a brilliant job with this club and they shocked everyone by taking the Europa League off unbeaten Leverkusen in the previous campaign.
In the league, they now sit in second place, just one point behind leaders Inter. They have won 8 straight games in all competitions and are unbeaten in 13 consecutive matches. An inconsistent AC Milan side travels to Bergamo looking to get back into the top six. Milan have a mixed away record with two wins, two draws and two defeats. Atalanta appear to be playing on a different level to them right now though, so the home win has strong appeal.
👕 Atalanta v AC Milan Predicted XI
🔍 Atalanta v AC Milan Players to Watch
🔵 Mateo Retegui
Retegui has been in great form this season, netting 12 goals in Serie A and also bagging a couple in the Champions League. He averages 3.40 shots per game and despite usually getting subbed off around the 70-75 minute mark, his work is often complete by the time he gets his breather.
Retegeui plays in an Atalanta team which creates numerous chances and will play as the one central striker, sometimes with two playmakers behind him. His recent form has been recent, scoring vs Parma and then a brace of goals vs Young Boys last week. Odd of 2.50 are simply too big to ignore on Atalanta’s leading marksman.
🔵 Marten de Roon
The role of de Roon in this Atalanta 3-4-3 system is midfield enforcer. In some teams, he’d be employed as a defensive midfielder to get stuck in. He will do a lot of the dirty work required and has clearly the highest foul rate of any player in the squad who has played more than 800 minutes in Serie A.
The Dutchman averages 1.60 fouls per 90 mins and the best thing about backing him in any market is that he will almost certainly last the full game unless there’s an injury. Taking him to commit two or more fouls in such a big game looks well within his reach. Milan have at least a dozen players who all draw at least one foul per game so there are several candidates for de Roon to come unstuck against.
🔴 Rafael Leao
AC Milan’s Portuguese international on the left wing averages 2.70 shots per 90 minutes and looks a big price to replicate a similar number here. Leao is known for being the sort of player who will fire in plenty of attempts on a good day and Milan might be restricted to chances on the break where individual players need to shine by themselves.
Leao has been in decent form scoring 2 goals in his last 3 games and 5 in his last 7. Confidence should be quite high and he is unlikely to shy away from a shot if the right chance comes his way. This is a very generous price for him just to have three or more shots, it doesn’t matter how accurate they are.
