Detroit Lions @ San Francisco 49ers Bet Builder Tip
🏈 Brock Purdy Over 18.5 Rushing Yards
📈 Odds: 1.83
While Brock Purdy has never been known as the fastest quarterback, he has shown off some athleticism with his ability to extend plays this season. The Lions are a team we frequently target for quarterback rushing because of all the man coverage they play. Let’s take a look at some of the quarterbacks with mobility and how they did:
Baker Mayfield 35
Kyler Murray 45
Geno Smith 38
Anthony Richardson 61
Sam Darnold 39
Josh Allen 68
Caleb Williams 6-34
While some of those guys are a level above Purdy, you see a lot of comparable players like Sam Darnold make the list. The other huge factor here is the rushing game injuries. Patrick Taylor looked awful last week as a starter, and they couldn’t get anything going on the ground.
Playing in a trialling game script there will be plenty of dropbacks, and Purdy should be forced to scramble on a couple of them. He doesn’t get much designed run action but if the run game is awful again I wouldn’t even be surprised to see one or two called.
🏈 Jameson Williams 50+ Receiving Yards
📈 Odds: 1.73
Detroit Lions WR Jameson Williams is currently on track to hit 1,000+ yards with under 60 catches, he’s one of the best deep play receivers in the league and can hit his line on any given play. The other thing we love about him is his usage in the screen game/short passing, where he gets some designed touches so he doesn’t just completely get erased if the deep balls don’t convert. Jameson Williams’ has posted the following numbers since his 2-week suspension:
– 5+ targets in every game
– 17.6 yards per reception
– Averaging 80 yards/game
– 3 TD’s
The 49ers are a fine defence, but this isn’t the same unit from past years. They do have Lenoir for the slot, which might give Amon Ra Saint Brown a tough matchup. I’m expecting a competitive game here, and the Lions should continue to pass even if they are in the lead. Williams just has so many different paths to victory with his route tree finally getting fully unlocked and I think we will post another huge game on primetime.

Level 2 Bet Builder Tip
🏈 Jahmyr Gibbs 40+ Receiving Yards
📈 Odds: 3.10
Gibbs is arguably the best receiving back healthy in football right now, and I love backing him in a big primetime matchup against the 49ers. While the Lions are one of the front runners to win the Super Bowl, they have dealt with some very tough injuries including to star running back David Montgomery. While they may not be the powerful two-headed monster anymore, Gibbs will see a huge boost in his efficiency. As the bell cow back I would be surprised to see Gibbs come in under 5 targets for the rest of the season.
He’s also posted great recent form, going for 4-45 vs Chicago, 5-83 vs Buffalo, and 6-30 vs the Packers. Now that we don’t have Montgomery anymore, Craig Reynolds likely won’t cut into the workload very much. The 49ers do have a good linebacker room but I think the pure volume will be enough here. Ben Johnson is one of the best play callers in football, and I expect him to have Gibbs very involved in the short passing game, I’m confident he’s one of the few guys that will even go out wide or in motion to catch passes like a receiver.
🏈 George Kittle 90+ Receiving Yards
📈 Odds: 3.10
If you watch how teams have attacked the Lions since losing Anazlone, it’s at the linebacker position. While the 49ers do have some receiving backs, they are dealing with injuries and we are unsure of what that usage profile will look like. We can be sure that George Kittle will be out there in a full-time role playing over the middle of the field.
He’s one of the best yards-after-catch tight ends in the league and operates as a dominant red zone weapon when needed. He ranks as the #1 TE in the NFL in yards per target at 11.5, which ranks first all time. He also ranks 3rd and 5th in that category with Gronk and Antonio Gates for the past season.
With losses to McCaffery and Aiyuk earlier in the season, Kittle has stepped up as the biggest beneficiary with Deebo Samuel seemingly struggling with the additional attention he’s getting. The Lions are one of the best teams in football, and they will score points. Having the 49ers in a trailing game script should be perfect for Kittle to dominate touches once again.
