Friday’s European Football Accumulator Tips
Wolfsburg welcome a Holstein Kiel side who sit bottom of the Bundesliga with just 3 wins from their 18 Bundesliga matches, they also have the worst defensive record in the division (46 goals conceded).
Holstein Kiel’s away record doesn’t offer much hope, they’ve not managed to win a game on the road this season, losing 6 of their 8 assignments so far. Wolfsburg are going steady in the Bundesliga with Ralph Hassenhuttl’s side sitting 7th in the league, just 4 points off of Stuttgart who currently occupy a Champions League qualification spot. They can take a big step to challenging for those positions with 3 points here.
Wolfsburg comfortably ran out 2-0 winners in the initial meeting between the sides back in August, Holstein Kiel actually have quite a potent attacking line with 26 goals scored this season – a total higher than any of the bottom 7 sides in the Bundesliga, it is their defence where it unravels. For this reason, Holstein should fall short against the firepower of Wolfsburg who have scored 40 goals across their 18 Bundesliga games (2.22 per game).
Wolfsburg have stumbled a bit of late but have had some tough opponents with Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Freiburg in their last 5 games. They should be able to get back on the winning side of things here against the weakest side in the division with a vulnerable defence that will always give the opposition chances.
Torino welcome Cagliari in this mid-table Serie A clash, with the visitors just 2 points off of their opponents who have drawn their last 4 games and have only managed to win 1 of their last 10 in Serie A – against a struggling Empoli side.
Cagliari are unbeaten in their last 3 league games which includes a valiant draw away against AC Milan. This little run has brought an end to a barren run of form which saw Cagliari lose 5 straight games across all competitions. It’s worth noting that this run featured games against Juventus, Fiorentina, Atalanta and Inter Milan who all currently sit in the top 6 in the division.
Cagliari got the better of Torino in a 5-goal thriller earlier in the season, it was a fairly competitive game as shown by the comparable xG’s (1.66-1.44) and possession numbers (42%-58%). We can expect a similarly competitive game in this encounter when looking at the league positions of these sides.
It seems a sensible move to take Cagliari or draw here with Torino seemingly unable to get over the line to claim all 3 points, demonstrated by their record of just 1 victory in 10 outings. Cagliari’s recent resurgence should see them take something from the game having already defeated their opposition once this season.
This mid-table clash in La Liga has the opportunity to entertain with both sides far from secure defensively and Las Palmas still tentatively looking over their shoulder, with Diego Martinez’s side just 3 points above the drop zone.
Osasuna have seen 53 goals across their 20 La Liga fixtures this season (2.65 per game), they’ve seen both teams score in 4 out of their last 5 games in all competitions too, with the exception coming against Diego Simeone’s title chasing Atletico Madrid, who boast the best defensive record in the division.
Las Palmas have seen 58 goals across their 20 La Liga fixtures this season (2.90 per game), they can be an inconsistent side but usually find a way to breach the opposition backline. They’ve seen both teams score in their last 2 games, which includes a trip to the Bernabeu. They have also netted in all 5 of their most recent home fixtures.
This selection landed when these sides met at Osasuna earlier in the season as the home side came away 2-1 winners. This looks to be a competitive fixture between two teams on similarly inconsistent runs of form, but it does have the ingredients to be an entertaining affair with plenty of goals.
