Cambridge United v Wycombe Wanderers
🏟
Tuesday 5th April – 7:45PM KO
Cambridge United scuppered us with a very impressive 1-0 win at Ipswich Town at the weekend, and Mark Bonner’s men are now only outside the top half of League One on goal difference. The U’s have enjoyed an excellent season consolidating their third tier status and will be hoping to deny play-off chasing Wycombe Wanderers in midweek.
The Chairboys beat Doncaster Rovers 2-0 at the weekend, but conceded 2.73 expected goals (xG) against in the process, as per Wyscout. Wycombe have only won one of their last five on the road and have seen under 2.5 goals in each of their last four outings. Cambridge are unbeaten in 14 of 17 at home and will have built a lot of confidence in their rearguard action at Portman Road.
Wycombe have performed well under Gareth Ainsworth this season, to bounce back from their narrow relegation from the Championship to compete towards the top end of League One once again. However, it feels like Sheffield Wednesday and Oxford United above them will be able to keep them at bay, and this trip will be much tougher than their victory over lowly Donny.

Wigan Athletic v Accrington Stanley
🏟
Tuesday 5th April – 7:45PM KO
Accrington Stanley were involved in an incredible end of season 4-4 draw with Cheltenham Town at the weekend. Ross Sykes was sent off for a second bookable offence in the closing exchanges and will miss the trip to the DW Stadium through suspension.
Wigan Athletic were held to a 1-1 draw by Bolton Wanderers on Saturday, but did edge the game on the balance of play. The Latics have the meanest defence in League One this season and that combined with their impressive home form of late, makes them rightful favourites against a Stanley side that have not kept a clean sheet in their last ten.
Motivation for the quick turnaround could be in question for Stanley, who only have a potential 12th placed finish to play for heading into the final few weeks of the season. Wigan need to take maximum points to strengthen their title bid and keep Milton Keynes Dons honest in third place. As the finishing line gets closer, the experience in Leam Richardson’s squad should be enough to see them over the line.
The home crowd will play their part against John Coleman’s men, who have not won an away league game since late November.
