Patronato v Independiente
🏟
Monday 27th June – 7:30PM KO
Patronato are one of the worst sides in the Liga Profesional this year and they are heading straight for relegation. They need to make up 13 points to Aldosivi or 14 to Arsenal de Sarandí (or need recently promoted Tigre or Barracas Central to collapse) to stay in at the end of the season. With 23 games to go, there is still plenty to play, but the current squad doesn’t inspire much confidence to do that job, because there is not much quality in it.
Midweek they did record a decent cup victory over Cólon and it was striker Alexander Sosa’s day. The academy player scored the equaliser with his first ever professional goal and slotted his penalty in the deciding shoot-out. Hopes are high for Sosa, but you can’t expect him to be the saviour this season, just after his first ever goal. However, the success was necessary to lift spirits, because last league game they received another blow with a defeat against fellow relegation candidate Sarmiento Junín.
Independiente has had a decent start to the season with seven points from four games. With Leandro Benegas they have a striker in great form and the squad generally looks balanced. They don’t have any injury issues coming up to this game. Patronato will feel a bit better after the cup victory, but I think the surplus in quality makes Independiente the clear favourite to pick up the three points in Paraná.

Atlético Túcuman v Godoy Cruz
🏟
Tuesday 28th June – 12:00AM KO
Just ahead of Patronato, Godoy Cruz are the other club holding a relegation spot. Their distance to the safe places of Aldosivi and Arsenal de Sarandí is small though, with only one and two points behind, so a victory could lift them out of the relegation zone. So far they have been flawless at home this season, but in the away games they failed to pick up a point against two weak opponents. The away game in Túcuman won’t be much easier. It is a fairly long trip to get there and the home side has been very steady this season.
Despite a difficult schedule, Atlético Túcuman are yet to lose a game this season. With Carlos Lampe they had one proper signing this season and the Bolivian national team goalkeeper has already been worth the investment. Nevertheless, it isn’t all sunshine in Túcuman, because the side barely scores. Pusineri hasn’t been happy with his strikers and has already tried several players up front, but none of the attackers have really pleased him, so it is unclear who he’ll stick with for this game.
Despite the trouble scoring, all their goals have come in Tucumán this season and with Godoy Cruz’s questionable away form, the home side are the favourites to pick up the three points here.
