KV Kortrijk welcome bottom of the table Seraing in an important relegation game, with the difference between the two teams in the standings being only 2 points.

After one month, the impact of coach Storck is already immediately noticeable. He was brought in to keep the club in first division, just as he did successfully in 2020 with Cercle Brugge. In a short time, he made Kortrijk a danger up front again, something that failed with previous coaches Belhocine and Custovic. He also ensured one major clean-up in terms of squad selection. Benchaib, De Bruyn and Radovanovic, Vandendriessche, Dessoleil and Ilic were sent to the B-squad. Players with a lot of experience but whose physical metrics are devastating. Storck’s squad does not include players who are in top physical shape.

After two wins, Kortrijk lost last weekend at Gent (2-1). A questionable disallowed goal and missed chances left the visitors with a disappointed feeling. In the closing stages they were physically superior to Gent but in some scrimmages the ball fell just short. Key player Avenatti had a difficult game against Ngadeu, but a defender of that calibre will not be encountered against lowly Seraing.

Seraing made it 4 out of 6 in the last two games. After a hard-fought game in Ostend (1-2), they drew in the derby against Standard (1-1) last week. In both games Seraing got away well several times. They are already a bit better physically than at the start of the season, but the technically skilled players up front continue to struggle to maintain their level for a full game, which will let Kortrijk be an opponent who keeps running and pressing for the whole match. We expect Kortrijk to be the more aggressive side and Seraing to play on the counter. After 90 minutes, Kortrijk should have the upper hand, provided there is enough concentration at the start of the match.
