Friday’s FA Cup Accumulator Tips
Bristol City v Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest have gone goal crazy since the arrival of Nuno Espirito Santo and we’re back them to do it again this weekend when they travel to Ashton Gate in the FA Cup.
Since the former Wolves manager took charge, their scorelines have been: 2-3, 3-1, 2-1, 2-2, 3-2 and 2-3. It makes the decision to place over 1.5 goals at 1.36 a bit crazy.
Their ability to beat the threshold of two goals being scored per game isn’t new either. They have managed it in 86% of their matches this season, including 82% away from home. Just for measure of form, they have done so in seven of their last eight.
We should factor in that they will likely make some changes here given they play Arsenal away in midweek, but their goalkeeping issues could become a factor, as well as a number of players pushing to impress the new boss.
They face a Bristol City that haven’t commonly reached this level but have still done so in more than half of their matches. That includes 61% of their league games and 57% at home, as well as five of their last eight. Both they and their opposition have managed over 1xG in their last two and they drew 1-1 with West Ham United before that, showing they can bring it to Premier League opposition.
Tottenham v Man City
The FA Cup Third Round draw pitted Liverpool and Arsenal together and the fourth round has pitted two more Premier League giants against one another in Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.
We are again backing goals, albeit an additional one. Goals have been a common feature of Premier League matches and these two lead the charge thanks to their attacking approaches – it certainly paid off during a 3-3 draw in early December.
Spurs sit in the top 7 for xG and xGA in the Premier League and goals have flown at both ends. In the league, 76% of their matches have contained three or more goals, including 80% of their home games. Seven of their last eight have also featured as many goals.
As for City, they have seen 76% of their league games finish with over 2.5 goals and 82% away from home. City have scored two or more goals in their last nine matches and in 17 of their last 19 in all competitions.
With City playing Burnley at home in midweek, they choose to play their stronger XI in this game and rest one or two for what they will deem easier opposition. Spurs know no other way to play than to attack, which should make this a cracking contest.
