Betting Highlight
Back in 2022, Derek Chisora pipped Kubrat Pulev by split-decision to end of a run of three consecutive defeats. Priced at 25/1, Tom was delighted to have picked out a split-decision win for 'Del Boy', favouring the potential home judging for the fan-favourite veteran and believing that Chisora may get the decision before hanging up the gloves and walking off into the sunset on the back of a win. Amazingly, Chisora has gone on to fight for four further years, but whilst wrong about the retirement plans of the now 43-year-old, Tom's 25/1 win on a single is about as big of a price as you will see on a winning boxing bet.
Betting Heartbreak
Hamzah Sheeraz has been hyped up by British boxing fans over the last few years, but given his size, making the middleweight weight limit was always going to be a struggle. As a result, when challenging for the WBC middleweight title in February 2025, Tom went against the grain and predicted that Sheeraz's time at 160lbs was up and that Carlos Adames would retain his belt with a win on the scorecards.
After 12 rounds of boxing, that looked to be a masterful selection, with the Dominican Republican seemingly winning all but a couple of rounds and cruising to a decision win to pull off the upset. Yet, to the amazement of fans around the world, only one judge provided an accurate 118-110 scorecard, with Omar Mintun Sr. scoring a 114-114 draw and Guido Cavalleri determining a bizarre 115-114 victory for Sheeraz, thus resulting in an official draw, before Sheeraz moved up to super-middleweight as Tom had anticipated.
