St Johnstone are stumbling towards the finish line in the Scottish Championship title race, and I think they could suffer another setback when they travel to Arbroath on Saturday afternoon. Simo Valakari’s side were held to a 1-1 draw by Queen’s Park at home last weekend, meaning the Saints have now won just three of their last seven league matches, with the other four ending all square. The Perth outfit now face a tricky test against a 3rd-placed Arbroath side who have lost just one of their 15 Scottish Championship matches at home this season.
The Red Lichties have already got the better of St Johnstone at this venue this term, running out comfortable 3-1 winners when the sides met here back in October. That was one of 12 home league games this season in which Arbroath have hit the back of the net, and they look well placed to do so again against a Saints side that looks like they are feeling the pressure in the fight for automatic promotion.
