Inter Milan have dominated the head-to-head record against Como since their promotion, and the Nerazzurri should be looking forward to this contest.

The 0-0 draw in the recent Coppa Italia first leg represents Como’s most competitive showing to date, as they had lost the previous three head-to-head encounters to nil, but even that match was a cagey affair rather than a statement of Como's attacking intent. 

Inter Milan hit a bit of a rough patch of form prior to the international break, but the two-week hiatus came at the perfect time for them, and they looked back to their best against Roma last time out. Cristian Chivu’s men came away with a 5-2 win on Sunday night. 

Meanwhile, Como were held to a 0-0 draw by Udinese on Monday, and they were also beaten 3-1 by AC Milan at home earlier this season, showing how they struggle in their tougher matchups. 

With that being said, Como did still manage to record eight corners in that match against AC Milan, getting over this line on their own.

Como are averaging 4.16 corners per game in the Italian top flight this season, rising to 4.75 when playing at home, and they aren’t the kind of team to sit back and invite pressure - they will take the fight to Inter this weekend, and that could make for an entertaining contest with chances at both ends of the field. 

There were seven corners in the recent match between these sides in the Coppa Italia, and Como contributed six of those.

Inter Milan weren’t at their best because they opted for significant rotation, but they should pose much more of a threat going forward this weekend, especially with Lautaro Martinez back in first-team action after recovering from injury. 

Nico Paz leads Como in terms of goal contributions this season, with ten goals and six assists under his belt.

The 21-year-old is averaging 3.84 shots per 90 in the league this campaign, and his tally of 105 attempts at goal is more than any other player in the division. Paz has consistently taken things up a gear when playing against the top sides, too. He landed this selection in both meetings against Inter Milan this season, including five shots at the San Siro.

Paz also got on the scoresheet against AC Milan at the same ground, after racking up eight shots with four on target in the reverse fixture. Of his 105 shots, 65 have come from outside the box, but still 39% of those have hit the target, which shows how he tends to be efficient when shooting from distance.

Dumfries returned from injury recently and has slotted straight back into the Inter starting eleven. He is averaging 1.23 fouls per 90 across all competitions this season, highlighting a real willingness to duel.

The Dutchman featured for the final 30 minutes against Como in the Coppa Italia, which was his first game back from injury, and he managed one infringement in that period. Dumfries racked up six fouls against Como last season in his only other start against this opponent. 

The key factor here is his matchup against Martin Baturina, who has been a difficult player to contain on the flank for Como. The Croatian international is averaging 2.51 fouls drawn per 90 in the league this season, largely because of his direct approach and dribbling ability.

Dumfries likes to get tight to his opposing winger, but that could be a bit of a mismatch out wide against Baturina.
