Derby to struggle yet again
- Derby v Bolton
- Tomorrow
This is as much about Derby being terrible as it is about Bolton being good. The situation at The Rams is horrendous. The fans have lost all hope and any faith in John Eustace is long gone.
He’s still in a job at the time of writing this and I have no idea how. Derby are second-bottom, they have one win all season and have conceded four in each of their last two, including a 4-0 home drubbing from Norwich which saw Pride Park empty before half-time.
Bolton’s recent away results have been very impressive. They’ve won away at Norwich, Wolves and Charlton as well as picking up a point at Southampton.
I expect more misery for the home fans and this’ll be the nail in Eustace’s coffin.
Sheehan is all action in the heart of the Bolton midfield and we’re looking at him for shots here.
He has had the most shots in the squad with 26, an average of 1.88 per 90 minutes in the Championship this season.
Sheehan has landed this selection in seven of his Championship matches this season. He’s also landed it in two of his last three away games and he’s also been on the scoresheet lately, finding the net in two of his last five.
Derby have averaged 15.8 shots against in the league this season and have conceded 19, 22 and 25 shots in their last three outings.
Sheehan leads Bolton in a number of metrics, along with shots, he has also committed the most fouls in the squad with 18 this season - which works out to an average of 1.30 per 90 minutes.
Sheehan has committed at least one foul in each of his last five matches.
Mowatt and Fraulo are expected to line up against Sheehan in the heart of midfield and they draw 1.11 and 1.22 fouls per 90 minutes, respectively.
Derby as a team draw 12.50 fouls per 90 too which is actually quite high.
Both sides have seen plenty of corners in their matches this season. Derby’s games have averaged 10.79, which rises to 11.58 when playing at home and the lowest corner count in a match at Pride Park in the league this season is nine, so above the line we’re actually needing here.
Bolton matches have averaged 10.93 corners. That does reduce on their travels, but it’s still comfortably above what we need at 9.57 with 71% of their away matches seeing this selection land and 79% of their Championship games overall paying out on this pick.
