Nijmegen have scored in each of their last four matches ahead of this clash, scoring two goals against Fortuna Sittard last time out which was also their fourth consecutive draw.
Nijmegen played some of the most exciting football of any team in Europe last season. Opposition teams have come up with ways to counter their extremely aggressive approach, but Nijmegen are still full of goals having registered an xG of 16.1 across their nine games in the Eredivisie this term.
Dinamo Zagreb have kept clean sheets in both of their Europa League games so far, but have conceded an xG of 0.96 or higher in both of these matches. We only need Nijmegen to score one goal here, something they’ve managed in 45 of their last 49 matches across all competitions.
Juventus have started their Europa League campaign really well, winning both of their games to an aggregate score of 7-1. Their 5-0 win over Nijmegen at home skews this slightly, but they did show resilience in beating Celta Vigo 2-1 on the road last time out.
The 3-0 defeat that Juventus suffered to Lazio at home over the weekend looks off putting on paper, but a deeper inspection shows that Lazio were incredibly lucky to come away with that result - they only generated an xG of 0.57 and scored with all three of their efforts on target.
Juventus have only lost one of their four home games in Serie A this term, which was that unfortunate defeat against Lazio. They welcome a Rennes side who shipped four goals and an xG of 3.62 against Paris FC at the weekend.
Rennes have only managed to win one of their three away games in Ligue 1 this term, conceding nine goals across these matches. That single away win came against a struggling Angers side, who still managed to post a better xG than Rennes despite losing (1.66-1.54).
Pierre Sage simply has to get a reaction out of his side following their 5-0 thrashing at Brighton last time out, which was followed by some ugly scenes between the fans and players.
Palace were perhaps a little unfortunate to suffer such a thrashing, with Brighton coming away with an xG of 2.00 and scoring some incredible goals. Palace have scored 2+ goals in both of their Europa League matches so far this term, and may be able to get some respite in this competition.
We saw with Forest and Villa in the Europa League last season that there is a significant gap in quality between the Premier League sides and some of the teams in this competition. Forest’s win at Fenerbahce last season is a good example of this, and Palace may be able to benefit in a similar fashion.
Besiktas have conceded in both of their Europa League games so far against Hoffenheim and Marseille - but have still managed to win both games. They’ve failed to keep a clean sheet across their last five matches and
- Bournemouth v Milan
- Today
This should be a really entertaining game between two managers who will feel as though their sides can go deep in this competition, and both also want to play high intensity football.
Ruben Amorim’s teams always give up chances to the opposition. His set up is far too expansive, leading to Milan keeping just three clean sheets this season and facing an xG against of 8.80 across seven games in Serie A.
Bournemouth have had similar issues at the back under Marco Rose, also keeping just three clean sheets this season and conceding 13 goals across seven Premier League matches. They saw BTTS in their opening Europa League game against Real Sociedad, but proved too strong for Sturm Graz.
