I tend to target high corner counts in Celtic games, and I think all the signs point towards plenty in their fixture with Dundee on Sunday. Steven Pressley’s side are well drilled and organised, so the Glasgow heavyweights may need to be patient in trying to break the hosts down - a scenario that should lead to a steady stream of corner opportunities.
Moreover, high corner counts have been a feature of Celtic matches for several seasons, and this campaign is no different, with the Hoops’ Scottish Premiership games averaging 10.39 flag kicks per game. That is largely driven by their own output, underlined by an average of 6.78 corners per 90. There is further encouragement from the fact that each of Celtic’s last four league matches away from home have produced 12+ corners.
While Dundee have not been particularly strong from a team corners perspective in the Scottish Premiership this season, I think they can still play their part, especially on home soil. What’s more, the Dark Blues won the corner battle 7-4 away at league leaders Hearts last time out, and they forced five corners away at Celtic in a Scottish Cup tie not too long ago.
