Esposito to star in huge early season clash
- Inter Milan v Napoli
- Tomorrow
Again, another thing I love when choosing a player for a shot on target is taking a player who has a large average shot volume and Esposito ticks that box.
He's had nine shots across his two games, four against Cagliari and five against Monza. Giving him a huge average of 5.26 shots per 90 minutes across his opening two Serie A matches.
He averaged 3.27 shots per 90 last season, despite not being a regular starter. His role in the team looks far more valued now and he's in the thick of the chances, I expect that to continue here.
Esposito has started off the campaign very well and seems to have cemented himself as Inter's starting striker alongside club legend Lautauro Martinez.
This selection has landed in both league games so far, with Esposito hitting the target twice against Cagliari and once against Monza - meaning an average of 1.75 shots on target per 90 minutes.
He also scored against Monza. I like when backing shots on target that my player has multiple routes to the winner. Esposito is good on both feet but also a big threat in the air.
I do expect Inter to have the better of the game. Napoli will threaten but the hosts should have plenty of joy.
Nicolo Barella is the heartbeat of this Inter side. Although Calhanoglu controls the tempo, Barella is the engine and the driving force.
Barella drew an average of 0.79 fouls per 90 minutes in the league last season and has drawn two fouls in two games so far this campaign, both of which were drawn against Monza in the 4-1 victory.
Scott McTominay and Frank Anguissa have combined for over three fouls drawn per 90 minutes so far this season already and Kevin De Bruyne has also got his hands dirty in limited minutes.
These games can often become battles in the middle of the park and I expect similar here.
Both teams to score has landed in each of the last five meetings between these two sides. Serie A isn't always a league synonymous with goals, but the big games do regularly produce excellent clashes and this selection is often worth a look.
Both teams have seen one of their two league matches. Napoli fell to a 2-1 defeat to Como in their last match and have looked shaky at the back. Inter conceded in their 4-1 win over Monza to kick off the campaign.
Inter have looked really strong in attack but aside from Bastoni, I do still question their defensive abilities.
Both sides had a 47% strike rate for this selection in Serie A last season.
