Igor Jesus took three shots in Forest’s opening game of the season against Leeds, finding the target with one of these efforts. 

He followed up that display with an effort on target against the same opponent in the EFL Cup, and I think he’ll offer a threat to a Liverpool backline that really struggled with Osula and Wissa last week in transition.

Oliver Glasner is the perfect manager to take advantage of the issues that Liverpool have with their rest defence at the moment. He built his success at Palace on these transitions, and has the players at Forest to make it work again.

Jesus struggled in the early months of the campaign last year, but grew into the season - ending with 10 goal contributions across 28 starts, taking 70 shots across these games (2.72 per 90).

Cody Gakpo is a really efficient player, and has actually been linked with a move to Manchester City in recent weeks with rumours of Liverpool being close to securing the signature of Bradley Barcola.

I still think Gakpo can be an asset to this Liverpool team even with Barcola about to join, he showed his quality in Liverpool’s draw with Newcastle last time out - scoring from one of his six efforts in the game. 

He’s clearly being encouraged to shoot more often by Iraola, with Gakpo taking aim at almost every opportunity at St James’ Park last week. Unsurprisingly, Gakpo took more shots than any other player in that game - and also had the most touches of any player in the opposition box (10). 

Neco Williams was already a pretty good fullback to watch for shots, but is now even more of a shot threat as he’s playing as a wingback under Oliver Glasner’s 3-4-3 system. 

Williams didn’t have a shot in Forest’s opening game of the Premier League season, but did take aim against Leeds in the EFL Cup last time out - a speculative effort coming from a corner after just two minutes of action.

Williams likes to take aim from outside the box and took 46 shots across 36 starts in the Premier League last season (1.29 per 90), which is an incredibly consistent record for a fullback. 

Williams had a shot in the most recent league meeting between these sides, and also set up a goal at Anfield last season - further showing how effective Williams can be in forward areas, boosted by his more advanced position in Glasner’s set up.

This is still a very generous price for Gravenberch to be fouled just once in this game, following on from the midfielder winning three fouls in Liverpool’s opening game of the season against Newcastle.

Gravenberch is elite when it comes to finding a way out of tight spaces. He’s clever when turning with the ball, being able to open up the game which makes him a player worth watching to win fouls - as the opposition often have to bring him down to stop Liverpool from breaking forward quickly.

Gravenberch won 42 fouls across 34 starts in the Premier League last season (1.26 per 90) and will be up against Inrahim Sangare here, who committed two fouls in Forest’s defeat to Leeds last week and averaged 1.82 fouls committed per 90 in the Premier League last season.
