Ajax remain undefeated in the Eredivisie with three wins and two draws to their name. Despite dropping points on two occasions, they’ve settled into a consistent rhythm, which has escaped them at times over the last few years.

They’ve looked much the better team in all five matches, although it’s worth noting that they’re yet to meet either PSV or Feyenoord.

Nonetheless, their underlying figures support this notion of consistency, with de Godenzonen having racked up 9.9xG since the start of the season, while conceding just 3.5 at the other end.

Still, European football has proved a stumbling block in recent years, and having now disappointed in consecutive Europa League campaigns, Ajax have the opportunity to reassert themselves on the grand stage this season.

🔵 Vulnerable Inter Struggling Under Chiuvu

Cristian Chiuvu’s appointment sent shockwaves around Milan, with a sizeable majority surprised that Inzaghi’s successor would take the form of a coach whose professional career spanned just 13 matches.

It was always going to be a gamble, and while it’s far too early to cast any definitive judgments, the signs aren’t encouraging. Inter have lost two of their opening three league games, including the Derby d’Italia last time round.

In doing so, they’ve equalled the number of defeats they suffered across their entirety of their Scudetto-winning 23/24 campaign. For further context, no Serie A champion since 2020 has lost more than four matches all season.

That said, it’s not all doom and gloom for the Nerazzurri, who have exceeded each of their three opponents in terms of expected goals, and rank first in Serie A for Goals, chances created, and touches in the opposition box.

This meeting between two European heavyweights is a real throwback, their first since 2006.

It was Inter who prevailed on that occasion, winning 3-2 on aggregate, largely courtesy of Dejan Stanković, who found the back of the net in both legs to see them through.
