Stuttgart are the defending DFB Pokal holders and deserve enormous credit for reaching back-to-back finals, but this promises to be an extremely tough task for them, especially considering how recent head-to-head meetings against Bayern have played out. The Bavarians beat Stuttgart 2-1 in the German Supercup at the start of the season, before then completing the league double in the league.

Bayern secured a convincing 5-0 win at the MHP Arena in Stuttgart, before then winning 4-2 in the reverse fixture at home. Vincent Kompany’s men come into this final as Bundesliga champions, having scored a record-breaking 116 league goals across the campaign, so they are not short of confidence heading into this final.

They are one of the dominant forces in Europe at the moment, and there appears to be a significant gulf in quality between the two DFB Pokal finalists.

With that being said, Stuttgart will at least fancy their chances of getting on the scoresheet. They finished fourth in the Bundesliga this season, which was enough to earn them a spot in the Champions League next season, and they scored 71 goals in their 34 league matches - only Bayern scored more. However, their main challenge this weekend will be keeping the Bavarians at bay.

Both Bundesliga meetings between these sides this season were highly entertaining affairs, and they produced a combined total of 11 goals. Bayern accounted for nine of those, clearing this line on their own in both meetings.

Stuttgart played out some enthralling encounters towards the end of the campaign - including a 2-2 draw against Frankfurt on the final day, after beating Leverkusen 3-1 on home turf. Both sides like to play attacking football, so this final promises to be an open contest.

Michael Olise didn't manage to score in either of the Bundesliga meetings against Stuttgart, but his involvement in the final third was significant throughout both encounters. He came on in the second half at the Allianz Arena in the 5-0 win and still managed four shots with two hitting the target. In the reverse fixture in Stuttgart, Olise recorded three shots, two of which found the target, and he contributed two assists in what was another devastating performance in the final third.

Olise is one of the most highly-rated players in European football at the moment, and his average of 3.77 shots per 90 across all competitions this season is second to only Harry Kane in the Bayern squad. When playing in the Bundesliga, that figure rises slightly to 3.92 shots per 90, and he has hit the target with exactly 50% of his efforts, which is notable efficiency.

Deniz Undav is Stuttgart's primary attacking threat and will be the focal point of their attacks here at the Olympiastadion. The striker has played a massive role in Stuttgart making it this far in the competition - he has scored in each of the last three DFB Pokal games for Stuttgart, including against Freiburg in the semi-final.

He comes into this final in good form, having also scored against Leverkusen in the penultimate league match of the season, and Undav will be motivated to make his mark on the final game of the season for his side. It’s a difficult matchup, but Undav has a positive record against Bayern.

He was absent when these sides last met, but the German international racked up five shots with one on target in the meeting before that, despite his side losing 5-0. If Stuttgart are to find any success going forward, Undav will have to play a big role.
