Introduction
Belgium have been a force in world football for some time now, but haven’t quite made it over the line in major tournaments.
Their key players are turning the wrong side of 30 and although some promising players are coming through, it may be too soon for a team in transition, having lost some key personnel over the past few years.
Nevertheless, a strong qualifying campaign and a squad worth over 500 million Euros will still be an awkward proposition for even the best sides in the competition.

Tournament Performance: Quarter-Finals
You can back Belgium to score 9 points in the Group Stage @ 3.75 on Paddy Power.
Although they are some distance away in the outright betting markets, this group should be comfortable enough for them on paper and they shouldn’t have much trouble getting to the knockout rounds.
Incredibly, given his goalscoring record, the stats we’ve mentioned and the service he should receive from Kevin De Bruyne and Jeremy Doku, you can also get a nice price on Romelu Lukaku being the top Belgium goalscorer.
Belgium Euro 2024 Qualifying Data
📖 How they qualified
The Belgians qualified comfortably in an awkward group, coming out on top ahead of Austria and Sweden. Undefeated in eight games, they were free-scoring with 22 goals in their eight games and conceded just four.
Romelu Lukaku was his usual prolific self during this qualifying campaign. The Roma striker bagged 14 goals in eight games, topping the goals charts for the entirety of qualifying.
Whilst this Belgium team are being labelled as perhaps ‘too old’ and ‘past their best’ to go all the way in Germany this summer, it will be interesting to see how coach Domenico Todesco fares with getting the best out of this Belgian side.
If qualification is anything to go by, they will have a serious crack of progressing through the latter rounds of this summer’s campaign in Germany.
👕 Players to watch
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s Jeremy Doku flying down the wing. Manchester City’s flying winger has the potential to cause havoc at these championships. He’s benefited from some rotation throughout the season, which means he’s in good shape and his directness and quick feet are a rarity in this current Belgian side. He could ease the pressure on Romelu Lukaku on the goalscoring front but his assist record in qualifying, with an average of 0.63 per 90 minutes is what could make the difference.
Speaking of the former Red Devil, Lukaku scored a staggering 14 goals in his eight qualifying games, far and away the highest-scoring player in the qualification round. Although it’s not been a spectacular season for his Roma side, he still has a very respectable 20 goals in 45 games. Still just 31 years of age and with 83 goals for the national team, he is still a major threat and crucial to Belgium’s hopes.
