Saturday’s evening kick-off provides us with a London derby in the Premier League, as Brentford host Tottenham. Brentford are in a comfortable position in the league, as they are distanced from relegation but can still break into the top ten. Spurs, however, have a likely chance at getting a top four place, but they will need to produce some brilliant results until the end of the season to beat Arsenal and Manchester United to a Champions League spot.
This fixture will be the first time that Brentford will be hosting Tottenham at home in the league since 1949. Tottenham have won eight of their 16 away games this season, which results in them taking 1.63 points per away game this campaign. This exceeds Brentford’s home record, as they have only won six of their 16 home games so far, averaging 1.25 points at home. With this suggesting that a draw between these two sides is more than possible, I’m backing the double chance, as Brentford may be able to hold off Spurs if they don’t turn up with maximum intensity.

Even though Brentford have better form heading into this fixture with Spurs losing to Brighton in their last match, I still feel that Tottenham will bounce back with Arsenal continuing to mount pressure on them in the top four race.

With my previous selection stating that I’m expecting Tottenham to get the better of their counterparts, Harry Kane will be my pick to be in the middle of the action, and bag himself a goal or claim an assist.
There’s no doubt that Kane is always expected to be the man to produce key involvements for Tottenham and spur them on to a top four finish. With Conte introducing high expectations from this squad, Kane has been in the Tottenham team long enough to experience the highs and lows. With his incredible striking ability which ranks among the top in the world, the squad will undoubtedly recognise their fortune of having a player of Kane’s stature up top.
Kane averages a total of 3.38 shots per match. This shows that he is always creating goalscoring opportunities and getting in the thick of the action. With a good amount of goalscoring opportunities being produced, this is good news for us as Kane’s quality means that he won’t need a magnitude of chances before dishing out goal involvements. His 12 league goals and eight assists this season contributes to that, as his unselfish play means that he is always aiming to get the best possible result for the team. His build-up play can always be relied upon as he comes deep often, so if he’s not putting the chances away up top, there’s a good chance that he will be heavily involved in making them.
Being the penalty taker for the squad, this enhances the chance of Kane scoring, as his penalty record is incredibly impressive, scoring 50/58 in his entire career. Despite the fact that Brentford will have the ability to bring a fight to Tottenham on Saturday evening, the fact that I still believe that Spurs will get the edge on the home side will mean that Brentford may find themselves on the back foot. With The Bees getting used to a run of victories, Tottenham turning up the heat due to their fight in the table may frustrate a Brentford side that are gaining self-belief. With Brentford possibly having a refresher course on losing a game, I’m expecting Christian Norgaard to end up in the book.
Norgaard commits an average of 2.18 fouls per game, which shows his habit of getting stuck into some challenges. That has led to him to acquire a total of seven yellow cards throughout the season so far. The high intensity of the fact that this is a London derby will invigorate Norgaard, as the added pressure and intensity will surely increase the frequency of harsh challenges made, in which I expect the Dane to pilot the charge with some crunching tackles.
Making the most of his tackles in the middle third of the pitch, this shows that Norgaard stands his ground whilst occupying his position in midfield, as he adopts a mindset of not letting players dribble past him easily. With a Spurs attack of Kulusevski, Son and Kane approaching him with full force, Norgaard will have a tough job on his hands on Saturday evening as a flurry of attacking talent will be attempting to force their way through.
With the referee for this game dishing out an average of 3.41 cards per match, the high intensity that London derbies carry, combined with Spurs’ tricky talent, makes me believe that Norgaard will be a victim of the referee’s handful of cards that he usually produces.
