Tajon Buchanan is one of the more exciting players in the Canadian national team, and is set to line up on the right wing here pitting him up against Amar Memic (0.73 fouls per 90) and Sead Kolasinac (1.62 fouls per 90).
As well as this promising matchup for Buchanan, he’s got a decent record of winning fouls himself. He drew 36 fouls across his 1821 minutes of action in LaLiga this season for Villarreal (1.78 per 90), and has won a foul in both of Canada’s recent warm-up matches - drawing two fouls in just 45 minutes against Uzbekistan.
Bosnia are the ideal opponent to haul down Buchanan as well, they committed more fouls than any other European side during qualifying (17.7 per game), and also picked up the most cautions (28). They’re a really physical side, and that’s not something I expect to change at the World Cup with how Sergej Barbarez sets his team up.
Buchanan won five fouls across 248 minutes of action for Canada at the recent CONCACAF Gold Cup (1.81 per 90), and is generously priced to win a few fouls here when noting Bosnia’s general aggression and the fact he’s as short as 1.44 with other major bookmakers to be hauled down at least twice.
His direct opponent in Sead Kolasinac is as short as 1.13 with some firms to commit a foul here, with 2+ fouls available at 1.62. This indicates that we’re getting a really nice price here on Buchanan to be hauled down a few times against the most aggressive European side statistically.
