Saturday's 5/1 Corners Acca

Fixtures for: Saturday 26th April

Chelsea v Everton

Premier League

11:30

Under 6.5 Chelsea Corners

At a generous price, backing Everton to limit Chelsea to under seven corners is a sensible shout. Since the start of this season, the Toffees have managed this in 64% of their games, including nine of their last 12. Two of those exceptions came against Arsenal and Liverpool, both of whom average significantly more corners than Chelsea, as do Man City, who managed no more than five in Everton’s last outing.

Chelsea’s stats also indicate value; Maresca’s men have won seven or more corners in just 39% of their league clashes. Across their last 12 in all competitions, Chelsea surpassed the threshold only against Ipswich, Legia Warsaw, and Leicester. This selection was also a winner in the reverse leg, where Chelsea won five corners during their 0-0 stalemate just before Christmas. Odds of 1.85 offer great value here.

Brighton v West Ham

Premier League

14:00

Under 6.5 Brighton Corners

The home advantage is highly unlikely to suffice in driving Brighton to seven corners, something they’ve achieved just once across their last 13 matches. That’s despite them playing four of the league’s six top corner-conceding teams. All in all, Hurzeler’s men have averaged just 4.88 corners per game, spread pretty much evenly across their home and away appearances.

West Ham’s corner conceding record is by no means anything to be ashamed of, with The Hammers averaging 5.39 conceded per game, the 11th best record in the league. Since the start of the season, only five teams have managed to win seven or more against them (Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City, Tottenham & Nottingham Forest).

In more recent times, this selection has been a winner in 11 of West Ham’s last 13 league games, with their opponents averaging no more than 4.2 corners per match over the period.

Wolves v Leicester

Premier League

14:00

Under 7.5 Wolves Corners

It’s tough to tell why the bookies have priced this selection as generously as this, but it makes an excellent addition to round off this accumulator.

Wolves have averaged a mere 3.52 corners per match this season in the league, coming in rock-bottom with regards to that metric. Although it’s a negligible difference, Wolves’ home advantage doesn’t explain the discrepancy, with this average actually falling to 3.50 when playing at Molineux. Since the start of the season, this selection has been a winner in 32 of Wolves’ 33 games, with the anomaly being a trip to Ipswich.

Leicester’s record also can’t explain the price. The Foxes conceded just one corner in the reverse fixture, and have allowed their opposition over 7.5 in no more than two of their last 15 league games.

Lyon v Rennes

Ligue 1

19:05

Over 3.5 Rennes Corners

Rennes have consistently delivered on the corners front this season, averaging 5.23 per game in Ligue 1 - the 5th most of any side in the division. They’ve exceeded the 3.5 mark in 73% of their games to date, and appear to be relatively unaffected by where they’re playing, bringing this selection home in 71% of matches away from home.

Their opponents, despite being well placed to secure Champions League football next season, have conceded four or more corners in 77% of their matches - the most of any team in the top flight, bar those promoted last season.

Recent form suggests this is a strong selection too, with Rennes winning 4+ corners in nine of their most recent 11, and Lyon conceding at least four in 13 of their last 16. These sides last met in the opening week of the season, a game in which Rennes won seven corners.
