Wembley Stadium is preparing to host footballing giants England and Brazil on Saturday night. With both nations fine-tuning their sides for the summer’s major tournaments, this will prove the ultimate test for both teams.
Gareth Southgate’s England side are unbeaten since their exit in the World Cup quarter-finals, having concluded their Euro Qualifiers with 6 wins and 2 draws. Alas, those performances have mostly left fans wanting more with the Three Lions rarely showing their claws in recent fixtures. A matchup with the Selecao will push England to be ruthless.
This Brazil side are certainly experiencing a rough transition phase at the moment and will need to adapt to the guidance of new coach Dorival Junior quickly. The Selecao come into this clash off the back of three consecutive defeats and one win in five outings so there’s certainly clouds of doubt around Brazil picking up a result here. There are some key names missing this international break which will certainly create more difficulty, but you can never count out the tricky Brazilians.

🏆 Match stats: A prelude to summer glory
Injuries are certainly plaguing both nations, with each side missing some big names this international break. However, when you look at the differences in-depth, the Three Lions certainly look more poised for victory with plenty more armour in reserve.
The form of these two giants seems like direct opposites. England are unbeaten since their exit from the 2022 World Cup, winning eight of their ten games since that summer, whereas the boys from Brazil have picked up only three wins from their nine outings since Qatar.
The Three Lions are true predators when playing at Wembley, winning all five games there since the World Cup, scoring 15 goals and conceding only once in the process – this is a tough place to visit for opposing nations.
This Brazil squad is full of talent as ever but they certainly find themselves in a rut of form at the moment which England can certainly pounce upon.
Predictions:
⚽ England to win @ 1.91
🥅 Goals stats: Tricky Brazil are always a threat
Brazil’s stylish attack has become the stuff of legend and they have certainly kept up their scoring form even in times of poor form, scoring in seven of their last nine since the 2022 World Cup.
Neymar‘s absence will be prominent in this contest, both from an attacking and entertainment perspective, as he continues his recovery from his nasty ACL tear but the Selencao are certainly not without firepower.
The Real Madrid duo of Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr will be looking to cook up some magic on the flanks, with Spurs attacker Richarlison also enjoying his best season at the North London side. There’s always plenty of goal threat from the five-time World Cup winners.
England are in fine scoring form, averaging 2.6 goals per 90 across their 10 games since Qatar, scoring on all occasions, and come into this international break with a plethora of in-form attacking options who will be keen to prove themselves at this level.
The visitors defence is down to its bare bones with injuries plaguing their backline. Alisson and Ederson are both unavailable, Gabriel has returned to Arsenal for rehabilitation and this could certainly be exploited by England. We expect plenty of drama and action between these two footballing titans.
Predictions:
⚽ Both teams to score @ 1.85
⚽ Over 2.5 goals @ 2.0
🎯 Shooting stats: Plenty of attacking threats in midfield
Player shots on target looks to be one of the strongest markets for this match. There’s great value in some of the midfield picks on Saturday night, despite the arsenal of attack upfront for both teams.
To start things off, Jude Bellingham is always an exciting pick for these markets. The Real Madrid man keeps proving himself as one of the world’s best. Bellingham is Real Madrid’s top goalscorer across all competitions with a whopping 20 goals, and nine assists for good measure – insane stats from midfield.
He has proved that he can deliver on every big stage, every huge occasion and we expect him to start serious trouble on Saturday. Bellingham is averaging 0.96 xG+A per 90 this season and will no doubt have a pivotal role in England’s transitional play in this one. He is registering 1.30 shots on target per 90 this season and has had at least one effort on target in 13 of his last 17 appearances for Real Madrid.
Sticking with the England midfield, Declan Rice is consistently getting shots off, registering at least one effort at goal in all of his last 15 Premier League matches. He has hit the target in over half of those. Southgate will likely assign Rice a slightly deeper role, but his price to have one shot on goal is tough to ignore considering his form.
Rice is averaging a very respectable 1.50 shots per 90, and if he can find that room on the edge of the box, expect him to let it fly.
Moving over to Brazil but staying in the Premier League, Lucas Paqueta is in fine form for the Hammers and has been hailed for reigniting the spark at the London Stadium. After a lengthy period on the sidelines, Paqueta has returned in style, picking up two goals in his six games of being back, and has been a persistent goal threat.
Paqueta has registered 14 shots across those six outings, with five hitting the target. All of those on target efforts have come in his last three outings so he’s certainly carrying shooting form into this contest. He will certainly be out to impress on the international platform in the absence of some key Brazilian attacking options and is a very tempting price for a shot on target in this one, although his price for a single effort looks good value as well.
Predictions:
⚽ Jude Bellingham to score or assist @ 2.20
⚽ Jude Bellingham to have 1+ shots on target @ 1.67
⚽ Lucas Paqueta to have 1+ shots on target @ 2.30
🚩 Corners stats: All out attack will bring corners
Seven of England’s last ten outings have witnessed 7+ corners, including in four of their last five. The Three Lions widemen, whichever combination Southgate ends up selecting remains a mystery as always, but they’re always key to his attacking style of play which should pull in additional corner potential.
Brazil have faced 3+ corners in four of their last five outings and their all out attack mindset will certainly leave them vulnerable to counters and hopefully draw in some set piece opportunities for the hosts. But the Selecao also prove their own threat from corners.
Brazil have registered 4+ corners in seven of their last nine and have witnessed some big corner totals in that time – 12 (v Venezuela), 10 (v Columbia) and 8 (v Peru). Similarly to England, there have been 7+ corners in six of the last nine fixtures for Brazil and there should be more to come on Saturday night.
Predictions:
⚽ Over 6.5 total corners @ 1.40
⚽ Over 7.5 total corners @ 1.80
