📂 Qatar v Switzerland Cheat Sheet
📈 Qatar Qualification & Recent Form
Qatar had to emerge through three rounds of AFC qualifying to reach the 2026 finals, with Almoez Ali their standout figure in the process as he struck a confederation-high 12 goals.
They arrived in the process as Asia’s 6th highest-ranked side in the FIFA Ranking and eased through the second round with five wins from six games, but struggled to a poor 4th in the third round.
This forced them into an additional series of games in which they took advantage of their home status to progress with a win over UAE and a draw against Oman. It was notable that they were winless in their last 6 qualifiers that were played either away or on neutral territory.
They boast a vastly experienced squad with six players on 100 caps or more, while defender Pedro Miguel could reach that mark in this game.
There are no reports of injuries.
📈 Switzerland Qualification & Recent Form
Switzerland’s passage to the finals was fuss-free as they picked up four wins from six in a tough group that also included Sweden, Slovenia and shock runners-up Kosovo.
The Swiss made a rapid start to the qualifying process as they picked up three wins from three without conceding. There was a minor hiccup as they drew 0-0 in Slovenia, but a 4-1 home win over Sweden all but sealed their place in the finals, with that finally sealed with a 1-1 draw in Kosovo.
Experienced figures Xherdan Shaqiri, Yann Sommer, and Fabian Schar have all retired, but there is a crop of promising young players headed by Ruben Vargas, Dan Ndoye, and Johan Manzambi.
The Swiss have posted no selection issues.
