Yan Diomande has been one of the most exciting wingers to watch in Europe this season, and is attracting attention from some of the biggest clubs on the continent having registered 17 goal contributions across just 23 starts in the Bundesliga this term.
We’re looking at a different part of his game here, he’s very generously priced for a single foul in this important game for Leipzig against Frankfurt. Diomande has committed a foul in three of his last five Bundesliga appearances, with his average across the season sitting at 0.66 fouls committed per 90.
This alone isn’t the most convincing average, but when we look at Diomande’s potential opponents in this clash - taking him for a foul at 1.83 becomes a lot more appealing. Leipzig will line up against a Frankfurt side who play with a 3-4-3 structure - meaning that Diomande will have at least two opponents to manage in this contest.
Diomande is pretty good at winning fouls himself (1.23 per 90), which can contribute to him committing at least one foul here. It’s easy for wingers to get frustrated with the constant attention they get from fullbacks and other supporting defenders, which then leads to the winger lashing out - or trying to stop a side breaking quickly when they lose the ball.
Diomande will line up against Kalimuendo-Muinga (1.40 fouls won per 90) and Nathaniel Brown (1.02 fouls won per 90), offering the perfect opponents for Diomande to commit at least one foul in this clash.
The meeting between the sides earlier in the season wasn't much of a contest, with Leipzig coming away 6-0 winners, but this should be a more even battle as Frankfurt have steadied themselves since that battering - which was one of many at the start of the season.
There is clearly great value with this angle when backing with Bet365, the same selection is priced as low as 1.17 with other major bookmakers.
