ADO Den Haag v Volendam
🏟
Friday 18th March – 7:00PM KO
We could be in for an interesting match up here in the Eerste Divisie. The home side have established a playoff spot early in the season and sit in seventh place. They have booked a few mediocre results but still look decent. They face off against Volendam, who suffered two straight heavy defeats – missed out on the “period title” and dropped into second place.
ADO Den Haag have failed to win their last three matches, but their last match was a decent 1-1 away draw to in-form FC Eindhoven. ADO last home game saw a surprise 3-2 defeat hosting MVV Maastricht, but they were undefeated in their last six, with five wins.
Volendam took two heavy hits. They first lost 5-2 at home facing off against Excelsior, and lost 4-1 away to Emmen last match round to fall to the second place. That has ended a very good streak of 26 matches without losing (18 wins, 8 draws) – however Volendam have now lost two in a row, after drawing VVV 1-1 and I’m not convinced they will have recovered from this. ADO Den Haag are also a decent side. I’m not sure if the home team will win, but I don’t see Volendam winning. I do expect some goals here though.
ADO Den Haag are without first goalkeeper Luuk Koopmans and Eljero Elia. Both Gregor Breinburg and Dhorasoo Klas in midfield are doubtful.
Volendam are without their two defenders Derry Murkin and Brian Plat who we can normally consider regulars. Josh Flint and Dean James will replace them. With both sides missing a few key players, I do see both teams scoring. ADO Den Haag have scored 60 and allowed 41 in their 28 games. Volendam have scored 65 and have allowed 40 goals in their 30 games played. Volendam have suffered just their first away defeat away from home in the 4-1 defeat to Emmen, and have scored in 13 of 15 away games played. With ADO bagging 30 goals at home it looks likely that both teams will score.

De Graafschap v MVV
🏟
Friday 18th March – 7:00PM KO
De Graafschap have been posting poor results lately, and Reinier Robbemond has just been relieved from his duties. De Graafschap favourite Jan Vreman steps in for the rest of the season. He will carry them to the playoffs, but will he lead them through the playoffs towards promotion? De Graafschap have failed to win their last five league games and have failed to score in their last four.
MVV have been dreadful, so this may well be the turnaround for De Graafschap. Somehow MVV managed a 3-2 win over ADO Den Haag in match round 26, but they have lost all four games since and all seven before. They sit in 19th position, and have suffered 20 defeats which is a league worst.
There are no major absentees for De Graafschap, although rotation players Giovanni Korte and Elmo Lieftink are doubtful.
MVV are without Clint Essers, and may have to call upon the inexperience of Besfort Arifi and Saul Penders. This doesn’t aid the away side and I think De Graafschap will pull off a win here. It may be a small, tight affair as they have failed to score lately. Joey Konings has just 6 goals in 26 apps and Sam Hendriks has 4 goals in 7 games, or will the talented youngster Devin Haen finally score again? He has netted 3 goals in 22 games.

Helmond Sport v NAC Breda
🏟
Friday 18th March – 7:00PM KO
We have another Brabant derby here, with lowly Helmond facing off against in-form NAC Breda.
Helmond are bottom of the league, with a league worst six wins. They have also scored a league low 28 goals in 30 games. Helmond suffered a 3-0 home defeat to VVV on Monday and have now lost three straight.
NAC Breda are looking up. They did well in their last time out beating Telstar 4-1 away from home and have risen to the eighth spot in the standings. Their win over Telstar also marks six wins in a row and also three straight away wins.
Regular starter Sander Vereijken (27 apps) picked up a red card for Helmond Sport and will not feature in this match. His fellow winger Gaëtan Bosiers is also doubtful (23 apps) so it looks like they will need to make some adjustments up front. Dylan Seys should step in, but he’s also doubtful.
Ralf Seuntjens is likely off to Japan and is not expected to play for NAC. Even though he is their leading scorer with 12 goals – he can be replaced by the likes of Jeredy Hilterman who scored against Telstar as well. NAC have had a few Covid-19 cases especially in defence, so it’s a bit of a question mark whether Danny Bakker, Jetro Mashart and Dion Malone can play – but I don’t think it will hurt them too much against Helmond. Luc Marijnissen, Wout Neelen and Gaston Siereveld have stepped in decent enough in the past few matches.

Telstar v FC Dordrecht
🏟
Friday 18th March – 7:00PM KO
Will we see a recipe for goals here, with two sides that are not doing spectacularly in the rankings? Telstar are fifteenth with 29 points from 29 matches. Dordrecht are seventeenth with an equal amount of points, but they have played one more match. Telstar have been struggling, failing to win their last six league games. They have scored 7 and allowed 14 in their last five. Further, Telstar have allowed a league high (worst) of 33 goals against in all the home games this season.
Dordrecht have been playing reasonably well despite their low league position. They have lost just one of their last six league games and I wouldn’t be shocked if they pick up their second win in a row here. Seven of their last eight league games saw at least four goals in the match. Their 1-0 win over TOP Oss ended that streak, but they do have 44 goals scored in their 30 games and a league worst 66 goals allowed. Dordrecht have allowed a league worst 40 goals against in all their away games played this season, and have allowed 10 from their last three. They have also scored in 13 of their 15 away games played. Both sides are always looking to play attacking football, even though Andries Jonker will likely set his side in a 5-3-2 formation, whereas Dordrecht will play in an attacking 4-3-3 formation.
Telstar are not aided by the fact that they miss a few players in defence. Anthony Berenstein, Delvechio Blackson, Yaël Liesdek and Vincent Regeling are out. Defensive midfielder Niels van Wetten will most likely also not play.
FC Dordrecht are possibly without main right back Ruggerio Mannes. Bradley Vliet will have to step in, who is normally a left back.
