Friday’s Euro 2024 Qualifying Accumulator Tips
Italy v North Macedonia
Italy play host to North Macedonia at Rome’s Stadio Olimpico, it is a must-win fixture for Luciano Spalletti’s Italian side if they want to keep their hopes up of qualifying for next summer’s Euro 2024 tournament in Germany. The reigning champions find themselves in third place, three points behind second-placed Ukraine, who they face in an all-important decider on Monday.
The Italians will also be out for revenge against the side who ruined their chances of qualifying for the 2022 Qatar World Cup; with the North Macedonians snatching a last-minute 1-0 win when these two teams met in their play-off semi-final in March last year.
North Macedonia themselves have a very slim outside chance of advancing through to next year’s tournament, but it would take an absolute miracle for them to achieve qualification to back-to-back Euros.
In their qualifying campaign so far, the Azzurri have seen 18 goals scored across their six games and that averages out to three goals scored per game. The North Macedonians have seen the second-most goals scored in their games in the whole group, behind only group leaders England, with 21 goals scored across their six games to an average of 3.5 goals per game.
With the stats in mind and the fact that the Italians will be expected to go into this match all guns blazing, it seems that the overs goal market is a sensible option here.
England v Malta
The second game of our accumulator sees already-qualified England take on a winless Malta side at Wembley.
It was a routine and professional performance last time out for Gareth Southgate’s England side, as they dispatched old foes Italy 3-1 at Wembley to secure their qualification for next summer’s tournament. Skipper Harry Kane’s brace in that game took him onto seven goals in qualification and he will be aiming to secure the golden boot with a few goals in England’s final two games.
The Three Lions have been almost perfect in qualifying so far, dropping just two points in a 1-1 draw away to Ukraine. With the level of talent in the squad, they are seen by many as one of the favourites to go on and win the tournament in Germany next year after falling at the final hurdle in 2021.
In their six group games, England have seen 22 goals scored for an average of 3.66 goals per game. Friday’s opponents Malta have had a poor, but not unexpected, qualifying campaign, losing all seven of their group games and scoring just two goals in the process.
When these two sides met back in June, England ran out comfortable 4-0 winners and it is expected that the game at Wembley will follow a similar pattern. With that being said, it seems as though the overs goal market is the sensible option for this one.
Denmark v Slovenia
Next up we head to Copenhagen, where Denmark will face off against Slovenia.
Either of these two sides could secure qualification to next summer’s tournament with a win, as they both sit four points clear at the top of group H. Both are on good form too, with Denmark unbeaten in their last six games and Slovenia unbeaten in their last five.
The Danes, semi-finalists in the last Euros, will feel that they have somewhat underperformed by their expectations in a group they should have dominated. They have seen 24 goals scored in their eight games so far and that averages out to three goals scored per game. Denmark also hold the unwanted record of being the first team in almost a year to concede to minnows San Marino in their narrow 2-1 victory in October.
Unlike Denmark, it has to be said that Slovenia have overperformed by their standards and have done incredibly well to go toe-to-toe in the group with a strong Danish side. The Slovenians have scored 17 goals in eight group games so far to an average of 2.12 goals for per game. RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko has been his country’s shining light, netting four goals and assisting two; and having a world class stopper like Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak in goal never hurts.
Slovenia will be competitive, but ultimately Denmark’s squad is simply of higher quality, and the Danes have been perfect at home in Group H, winning all four games at Parken to an aggregate score of 11-2. They are favourites for a reason, but there is still value to be found in backing them here at 1.44 on Betfair.
Poland v Czechia
And finally we come to Warsaw, where Poland and Czechia go head-to-head in Group E.
Friday’s game between these two sides is Poland’s last chance at qualification for Euro 2024, with the Poles one point behind their opponents having played a game more.
Overall, it has been a poor qualifying campaign for Michal Probierz’s men, failing to beat minnows Moldova on two separate occasions and looking constantly shaky at the back. Only the winless Faroe Islands, who sit at the bottom of the table, have conceded more goals in Group E than Poland’s nine. They have also scored nine, seeing 18 goals across seven games to an average of 2.57 goals a game.
Euro 2020 quarter-finalists Czechia know that a win from either of their final two group games will be enough to see them through to next summer’s tournament. The Czech’s have performed to a good standard in the group, losing just one of their six games so far, with that loss coming against group leaders Albania.
Games between these two countries often provide entertainment, with ten goals being scored across the last four meetings to an average of 2.5 goals a game.
With what is at stake in this game, the both teams to score market looks to be the option here. Either side are more than capable of hurting the other, as evidenced by their game in Prague in March, which finished 3-1 to Czechia.
