Sunday's Goalkeeper Saves Betting Tips

Fixtures for: Sunday 14th September

Man City v Man United

Premier League

16:30

Man City Goalkeeper to make 3+ Saves

Donnarumma could be in line to make his debut for Man City here, having joined from PSG on deadline day. Spare a thought for James Trafford who looks to have been demoted to second choice, despite joining City with the belief that he would be trusted to be Pep’s number one.

Trafford has been pretty busy in goal for City so far, he’s been forced into making 11 saves across his three Premier League matches (3.67 per 90), maintaining a 73.3% save percentage across these fixtures. This would suggest that Donnarumma is going to have a busy afternoon if he is to make his debut here against City’s fiercest rivals.

I was a bit confused as to why City opted for Donnarumma, he is a decent shot stopper but he is pretty shaky with the ball at his feet. This could suggest that City’s playstyle is evolving this season to slightly move away from the slow, passing build up to a faster and more intense style which is more in line with where the Premier League is currently at.

United’s underlying attacking numbers have actually been pretty positive in the early stages of the season. They’ve had 16 shots on target across their three Premier League games so far (5.33 per 90) - hitting at least six shots on target in two of these matches.

Bologna v AC Milan

Serie A

19:45

Bologna Goalkeeper to make 2+ Saves

I’ll be keeping a keen eye on Bologna this season. They won the Coppa Italia last year, beating AC Milan to the trophy in the final. They’ll be competing in the Europa League this campaign and I think they’ve got a good chance of going deep in that competition with Vincenzo Italiano at the helm, who I am a massive fan of - he was the manager of Fiorentina when they reached the Conference League final a few seasons ago.

Lukasz Skorupski in the Bologna net has been forced into making five saves across his opening two games of the Serie A season, against Roma and Como. He’s set to be regularly tested here by an AC Milan side who have drawn eight saves from the Lecce and Cremonese keepers across their opening two games of the season - drawing four saves in each game.

Skorupski was forced into making three saves in the most recent meeting between the sides in the Coppa Italia final. He was also forced into making two saves in this fixture last season, as AC Milan ran out 3-1 winners.

Barcelona v Valencia

La Liga

20:00

Barcelona Goalkeeper to make 2+ Saves

Barcelona are the most exciting team to watch in Europe in my opinion. Their attacking options are near impossible to match unless you are PSG or Liverpool, but this does come at a slight cost in the form of defensive instability.

Barcelona have kept just one clean sheet from their opening three games of the La Liga season and have seen Joan Garcia tested nine times across these fixtures (3.00 per 90). Garcia is an excellent shot stopper, as displayed by the 75% save percentage he’s managed across the opening games of the season.

He was one of the most active goalkeepers in La Liga last season, making 145 saves across his 38 appearances (3.82 per 90). Remarkably, he maintained a save percentage of 74% across these games, which reaffirms the suggestion that he is one of the best and most complete goalkeepers in the Spanish top flight.

Valencia continue to develop under the tutelage of Carlos Corberan, who remains one of the most underrated managers across Europe’s top five leagues. The former West Brom manager joined Valencia when they were in a relegation scrap last season and guided them to a mid table finish.

Valencia were battered in this fixture last season which was one of Corberan’s first games in charge, he’ll be eager to show his sides’ development since that 7-1 defeat back in January.
