  • Hearts are undefeated at home in the Premiership this season.

  • Rangers have won only 2 of their last 6 matches against top-6 rivals.

  • Rangers’ last 8 league games have produced a total of 36 goals. Only 1 has not been O2.5.

📈 Hearts v Rangers Form & Stats

Surprise Premiership leaders Hearts come into this match protecting an undefeated record at home in the league that has seen them post 12 wins from 16 matches. Indeed, they have only lost twice over 90 minutes at Tynecastle since Rangers beat them 3-1 in February 2025.

Defensive strength has been the secret to their success this term. With just 29 goals conceded, they have the best rearguard in Scotland this season and are the only team to have scored more than twice as many goals as they have conceded.

Recent performances have been full of grit rather than blistering play. Back-to-back wins against Motherwell and Hibs both came late and showed a strong mental response to going to bottom side Livingston and only drawing. Persistence was key in both games, but particularly in overcoming 9-man Hibs.

Sending offs have been something of a recurring theme for Hearts this season; 3 of their last 4 games have seen at least one red, while there have been 12 red cards across their 34 games this term.

Rangers, meanwhile, saw a 4-game win streak brought to a crashing halt against Motherwell last weekend as they lost a critical fixture 3-2 at home. The previous week, they had to rally from 2-0 down to beat Falkirk.

That remarkable 6-3 win over the Bairns is one of only 2 victories against top-6 rivals in their last 7 matches, which does not bode well.

Serious concerns should be raised over the volume of goals that Rangers have started to concede in recent weeks. In 6 of their last 8 league games, they have allowed their opponents to score 2 or more. Although the Gers have scored 25 of their own in this period, it has undoubtedly cost them points.

📔 Hearts v Rangers Formation & Team News

Hearts come into this game with a badly beaten up squad, though that has been the case for Derek McInnes’ team for much of 2026 to date.

In particular, the centre of midfield is suffering. Cammy Devlin is not expected to be back in time to make this game, which is a major loss, though at least Marc Leonard returns from a ban to play. Record signing Ageu has barely played this season, while Calem Nieuwenhof and Tomas Magnusson are out.

Harry Milne, the best left-back in the league this season, is considered doubtful, while on the right there are worries over Christian Borchgrevink, with regular Oisin McEntee having already been ruled out until the summer.

Rangers’ squad is looking far fitter. Tuur Rommens trained late in the week, which suggests that he will be fit to start this game, while there is also the prospect of Ryan Naderi featuring, potentially giving Rohl the opportunity to switch to a 4-4-2.
