IFK Goteborg v Elfsborg
Kick Off: Saturday 12th July at 14:00
Competition: Allsvenskan
IFK Göteborg have won four of their last five in Allsvenskan
Elfsborg are winless in three, only picking up one point
IFK Göteborg have averaged 3.2 goals per game in their last five
A showdown between two teams in the top half, IFK Göteborg sitting in 7th while the visitors are in 4th place.
We have seen somewhat inconsistent form from each side, IFK being better of late, winning four of the last five, while Elfsborg haven’t won in their previous three matches, only picking up one point.
This game is fairly evenly matched on paper, IFK Göteborg the favourites with 2.25 for the home win, 3 given for a draw, and Elfsborg at odds of 2.6.
The bookies expect a fairly goal-rich encounter, the over 2.5 goals sitting at odds of 1.8 while the under is at evens.
⭐ IFK Goteborg v Elfsborg Bet Builder Quick Tips
Both of these teams are normally quite high-scoring, but Elfsborg have struggled to find the net of late, not scoring in their last three. If they don't score here, this selection will be a winner.
IFK Göteborg had some struggles at home earlier in the season, but are now unbeaten in their last three games at Gamla Ullevi. With Elfsborg’s struggles in attack, we can expect IFK to carry on their positive run at home, with the double chance priced nicely at 1.40.
There have been at least three goals in four of the last five IFK games, a trend we could see continue here. As such, the over 2.5 goals at 1.8 looks attractive.
Elfsborg have conceded two goals in two of their last three games, both defeats. They are in a rut, and IFK Göteborg could take advantage, meaning the over 1.5 goals and an IFK win at 2.88 looks like a long shot with a good chance of hitting.
🔵 IFK Steadily Improving
IFK Göteborg came into last weekend’s game on the back of a defeat, being handily beaten by AIK at the restart a fortnight back. They did however, manage to come back from an early penalty to overcome the frail Sirius 3-1, in an open-ended encounter suiting IFK perfectly. They scored two goals late on to secure the victory, having been gifted a penalty in the first half.
They still miss the creativity of Ramon-Pascal Lundqvist in the final third, while Gustav Svensson’s leadership is needed at the back. Both are likely to remain out for another little while, but at least Tobias Heintz (5 assists) is back, while Max Fenger keeps producing up top (8 Allsvenskan goals).
IFK are still too inconsistent and need to be given space to thrive, often giving up too many chances, having conceded 1.43 goals per game from an average of exactly the same xG.
🟡 Elfsborg’s Huge Downturn
After a period of fruitful and impressive form, seeing Elfsborg push up the league towards the top positions, they have now skidded and failed to win three in a row. Two of those have been defeats, not scoring a single goal in the process, with the play lacking cohesion and not creating enough.
They remain in 4th place, 8 points behind Mjällby at the top, but don’t seem capable of mounting a real title challenge. While they were overperforming their xG previously, they have now failed to score from a combined 3.39 xG in the last three.
Last weekend, the massively struggling Häcken visited Borås and somehow took hold of the game, creating the better chances and deservedly walking away 2-0 winners. Elfsborg are not taking their chances well enough and giving up too much space to be exploited.
