AC Milan welcome Lazio, having just beaten their city rivals 1-0 in the Milan Derby. That victory encapsulates the success of Milan under Allegri this season, with the red side of the city unbeaten since the first game of the season.

Lazio are within touching distance of the European places, but their away record is a cause for concern, with only one win from their six matches on the road this season.

This week, there are 100s of Football Tips available, and you can view the latest AC Milan v Lazio Betting Stats here ahead of kick-off.

📈 AC Milan v Lazio Form & Stats

Milan sit second in Serie A, in what is a congested top of the table at the moment in the Italian top flight. Only three points separates Roma in first and Bologna in fifth, so every result is very consequential at the moment when the top sides in Serie A take to the field.

Milan have the advantage of not being in any European competition this season. This may not be relevant for this particular encounter, as Lazio also failed to qualify for Europe this season, but it will inevitably help them in matches against other elite sides in the division that may be carrying fatigue from European assignments.

Lazio have been on a decent run of late, with just one defeat from their last five matches, with this run including a 1-0 win over Juventus. However, the issue for Lazio is their scoring power - they’ve only scored three goals across their six away matches in Serie A and have only managed to score more than once in two of their last five matches.

This is likely to be the most obvious point of difference between the sides, with Milan boasting a wide variety of attacking threats, most notably Leao and Pulisic, who have combined for nine goals this season - triple Lazio’s tally on the road so far.

📔 AC Milan v Lazio Formation & Team News

AC Milan have had a lot of success with a 3-5-2 shape under the direction of former Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri. There is no doubting that Allegri is an excellent manager, but he does prioritise the defensive part of the game more than the offensive, which is a trait reflected throughout Italian football.

The role of Luka Modric is crucial in this system. The 40-year-old can still control a game, and the slower pace of Serie A suits his aging body. He’s formed a decent partnership in the middle of the park with Adrien Rabiot and Youssef Fofana, who offer the physicality and energy that Modric may lack now that he is a bit older.

The front two of AC Milan have also been really impressive, with Leao and Pulisic having a hand in 12 of the 18 goals that Milan have scored in Serie A this season. This shows how reliant Milan are on this front pairing, but the shift to a striking role has benefited both former wingers who may not have had a role in this Allegri system otherwise.

Lazio will line up in a 4-3-3. This has long been the preferred shape of Maurizio Sarri, and he still plays in a similar way to how he set up his Chelsea side back in the 2018/19 season, with most of the play going through a conductor in the middle of the park. It’s notable that Lazio could be without Nicolo Rovella for this game which is a big miss as Sarri sees him as someone who can effectively perform this role.
