Konate has found it really difficult in the early weeks of the season with Liverpool struggling for defensive consistency and this is showing in his foul numbers so far this season.

He’s committed a foul in each of his last five Premier League appearances for Liverpool and is averaging 1.11 fouls committed per 90 across his seven appearances in total this term. Konate and Van Dijk are being left exposed as a result of Liverpool’s fullbacks pushing too high or being too aggressive leaving the duo at the behest of an opposition counter attack. 

Konate is a touch more aggressive than Van Dijk with the Dutch centre back only committing two fouls across his seven appearances (0.29 per 90) which tells us that Konate is the more likely to commit a foul of the pair. 

He’ll be lining up against Benjamin Sesko here who will offer a physical presence for United up front and has shown some promising signs in linking up with United’s other attacking players. He’s won just the one foul in his United career so far, but I’d also anticipate Konate having to deal with Cunha (2.56 fouls won per 90) and Mbuemo (1.66 fouls won per 90) at times as they run off the striker.
