Rasmus Hojlund to have 1+ Shots on Target

Hojlund scored against Bournemouth in Manchester United’s 4-1 win over the Cherries last time out. The 22-year-old has had a tough time at Manchester United, but the attacking reinforcements that United are bringing in should see Hojlund, or whoever starts the season leading the line for United, get more chances in front of goal this season.

Hojlund averaged 0.58 shots on target per 90 in the Premier League last season, which is a pitiful record for a striker at this level, but now with the added creativity around him, we should see this number increase this season. In my opinion, Hojlund would really benefit from having a starting striker like Benjamin Sesko in the squad who can cover for him and allow him to develop.

Patrick Dorgu to Commit 1+ Fouls

Dorgu has been bright in the opening two games of the PL Summer Series, particularly in United’s last game against Bournemouth. It’s clear the left-hand side is going to be an area of promise for United this season. Dorgu averaged 1.81 fouls committed per 90 in the Premier League last season.

Over 2.5 Goals

Everton are known to be quite a conservative side, but they’ve seen over 2.5 goals in both of their games at the Summer Series so far, as have Manchester United. Both head-to-head meetings between the sides during the 24/25 campaign saw over 2.5 goals, with United running out 4-0 winners at Old Trafford before the sides contested a 2-2 draw at Goodison Park.

🔴 United’s Frontline Strengthened but Balance Still an Issue

Manchester United will certainly offer more of a threat going forward in the 25/26 season with the signings of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. This would certainly improve Manchester United’s goal output - Ruben Amorim’s side only scored 44 goals in the Premier League last season, and only the three promoted, and swiftly relegated, sides scored fewer.

However, I still think United are lacking a little in the defensive and middle thirds of the pitch. Amorim’s system puts a lot of pressure on the midfield duo, and I still don’t think United have the correct profiles in those positions for their midfield to be secure in the Premier League. Direct attacks could still be a pressure point for Manchester United this season if they neglect other areas of their squad.

🔵 Everton Maintain Direct Approach Amid Rising Expectations

It’s not worth reading too much into Everton’s pre-season performances so far as they don’t tend to be an indicator for how a side will perform in the upcoming season. Despite this, Everton are under a bit of pressure this season - they’ve been slightly more ambitious in the transfer window and also have a new stadium to adjust to.

David Moyes’ approach won’t change too much despite the changing nature of the squad. Everton ranked top for accurate long balls and % of direct passes last season, which is a trait we can expect to continue.

📊 Man United v Everton H2H

Everton’s last win against Manchester United was back in April 2022. The two meetings between the sides last season saw United run out 4-0 winners at Old Trafford before the sides contested a 2-2 draw at Goodison Park.
