Specialist in Scandinavian & European soccer. I have been in the betting game for nearly 20 years now with a summer focus on the Norwegian & Swedish leagues. With an in-depth knowledge of the region & teams I have been involved in a specialist podcast & more for close to a decade. My favourite types of bets are attacking the goal lines and identifying the tactics & style of each team & manager who can contribute positively. Outside of betting I was once a Sunday League goalkeeper myself. But my boots are now retired and instead prefer to hit up the cricket pitch and golf course in my spare time.

The Norwegian Eliteserien is back in action on Sunday, and our expert has crafted a 3/1 accumulator for the slate of fixtures - a £10 bet returns £36.30if the four-fold lands.

Valerenga v Molde

Eliteserien

13:30

Over 2.5 Goals

Valerenga have only kept two clean sheets in the Eliteserien so far, with none of them at home. They have had to rely on their own attack upon promotion back to the top-flight, scoring in every game bar two. Valerenga have an average xG per game of 1.63 this season, which is pretty decent. They now take on a Molde side who have dramatically underachieved this season. With just three wins in 10 games, much more is expected of the 2022 Eliteserien champions. This is still a quality squad, though and with key striker Fredrik Gulbrandsen now back from injury, they’ll have a boost going forwards.

The visitors only have three clean sheets to their name, all of them surprisingly away from home. An xGA per game of 1.41 ranks them mid table in this metric which is rather disappointing. Over 2.5 goals looks like the best bet for the match with defensive deficiencies on both sides. Valerenga could do with getting striker Muamer Brajanac back on the scoresheet. Plenty was expected of him this season, but only one goal so far has been poor. He could catch out this Molde backline with his movement. Valerenga home matches average 3.50 goals per game, which also supports this overs bet.

Ham-Kam v Tromso

Eliteserien

16:00

Tromso Double Chance

Both sides head into the match in good form but it is Tromso who have especially caught the eye with some excellent results. They’ve won four consecutive Eliteserien matches, including a 2-1 success v bitter rivals Bodo/Glimt. Tromso have won successive away games and scored nine times in their four road trips this season. Their counter-attacking threat on the break often makes them a more dangerous away team or when an underdog at home.

They travel to a Ham Kam outfit, who were one of the pre-season favourites for relegation. They started really poorly but have picked up form, unbeaten in three games and having won successive contests. However, they are in a tricky period now where their manager, Jakob Michelsen will leave the club at the end of July. Ham Kam are actively searching for a new head coach, but it’s a distraction they could do without in the middle of the season. Tromso have the better players and are no doubt the better overall team. They are deserving favourites to win and will probably prevail. We can take them in the double chance market because it also covers a possible draw.

Sarpsborg v Bryne

Eliteserien

16:00

Over 2.5 Goals

Bryne have changed their style to be more competitive at Eliteserien level and it’s been working well recently. They didn’t want the recent three-week spring break to come because they won their last 3 straight games 2-0, 4-3 and 3-2. They’ve been more willing to be quite attack-minded and go searching for goals. This is in stark contrast to the early games this season, where they regularly struggled to trouble the scorers.

Duarte Moreira and Sanel Bojadzic have been in great form for Bryne this season, netting a combined eight goals between them in all competitions. This trip away to Sarpsborg looks like a potential shootout. The home side have a mixed record in terms of goals, with five of their nine games going over 2.5. In total, four of those actually went over 3.5 goals. You never know which version of them will show up, but when their games explode they tend to go well over the mark. Key man Sondre Orjasaeter is back from injury, which is a major boost. Taking over 2.5 goals looks like the best option for this game.
