Everton have struggled on the road this term, winning just one of their five matches. Goals also seem to be an issue for the Toffees, with Moyes’ men only netting 12 goals across their 11 matches.

📂 Man United v Everton Cheat Sheet
📈 Man United v Everton Form & Tactics
Man United are a much more appealing side to watch this season, but that naturally comes with the drawback of the Red Devils not having much control in games. In other words, it’s fun to watch - but this won’t be a sustainable method for them to build to challenge the elite sides in the division.
United have certainly improved in the final third, but have actually regressed in the defensive third. They’ve conceded 18 goals in the Premier League this season, which is the joint most of any side currently in the top half of the league. United have been able to mitigate this so far with their improved scoring power, but against sides that will be able to control the game - United may struggle, as shown by defeats to Arsenal and Man City this season.
Everton are progressing steadily at the moment, but I can’t help but feel that this squad can go up another level. Everton have recruited well, I’d argue they’re missing a clinical number nine, but the work they do between both boxes is pretty good, and Moyes being at the helm means that they usually retain their defensive structure more often than not.
📔 Man United v Everton Formation & Team News
Man United will continue with their 3-4-3 shape. Criticism for this set up has died down in recent weeks as results start to match the promises that Ruben Amorim has been making in his press conferences. He deserves a lot of credit for this, as many other managers would have buckled under the intense media pressure, but he’s stuck with his system and we’re starting to see signs of progress.
I still think the midfield could do some with some work in this system, Casemiro has improved but he’s not a long term option and I still feel as though United give up way too much space in the middle of the park, especially on a pitch as expansive as Old Trafford’s. I think the wide areas are coming along really well though, Amad and Dorgu in particular have caught my eye.
Everton will set up in a 4-2-3-1, but this will probably become a 4-4-2 or a 4-3-3 when Everton are without the ball. It’s important that Everton don’t go too negative here, as they have the ability to cause United real problems - particularly though their wide players. Jack Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye have been Everton’s most important players in an attacking sense, and will be aware of the issues that United have faced at the back this season.
Everton continue to be without Jarrad Branthwaite who is still sidelined with an injury, he’ll have a big impact on the squad when he returns to full fitness. Benjamin Sesko, Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire are also expected to miss this clash on Monday evening.
