📈 Napoli v Como Form & Tactics
Unbeaten in their last eight matches in all competitions, Como have been in strong form this season, and are emerging as challengers for the European spots. They managed to beat Juventus in that run, but the Old Lady have been in really poor form, and recently sacked their manager Igor Tudor following a string of lacklustre results.
Still, Como have competed well since their return to the Italian top flight last season. They finished in a respectable 10th position in the previous campaign, and have gone from strength to strength. Cesc Fabregas’ side have made some noteworthy personnel additions over the summer, namely Alvaro Morata and Diego Carlos, and they seem to be settling in nicely.
But this clash against the league-leaders Napoli is set to be a tough one for them. While Gli Azzurri have shown a vulnerability on their travels, winning three of their seven matches and losing the other four in all competitions, Conte’s side have been imperious at home.
It was no different in the previous campaign - Napoli won 14 of their 19 home matches in Serie A, picking up more points than any other team on home turf. Such an impressive record was integral to their title-winning run.
📔 Napoli v Como Formation & Team News
The hosts will be without De Bruyne this weekend, while Romelu Lukaku remains out with a thigh injury. Goalkeeper Alex Meret is also out with a broken foot, but Vanja Milinkovic-Savic is an adept replacement for him.
Rasmus Hojlund has been battling injury in recent weeks, but was available to make an appearance from the bench midweek, so should be set to re-claim his starting spot up front over Lorenzo Lucca. Billy Gilmour has been the controller in midfield without Stanislav Lobotka.
Alvaro Morata is doubtful for this match, after picking up an injury against Parma, so Anastasios Douvikas could lead the line for Como, with the in-form Nico Paz playing in an advanced midfield role. Lucas Da Cunha and Maximo Perrone will be expected to partner up in a familiar double pivot, and they should have plenty of defensive work to get through against the current champions.
