Olympiacos have been close to impenetrable at home this season and it seems importable that a Rangers side with a miserable away record will go to Piraeus and pick up three points.

The home team have posted four wins and two draws from their six matches at home across all competitions, scoring 11 goals and conceding just four. Included in this run was a handsome 3-0 success over Braga in their previous Europa League outing.

Rangers have been poor away from home this season. Domestically, they have picked up one win from five away games and have scored only two goals – a quite incredible record for a team that expects to be so dominant in Scotland.

Even when Rangers have struggled this season, they have rarely had too many problems posting a high shot count, and that will likely be the same when they travel to Greece for this clash.

Across their last 12 matches in the Europa League and Scottish Premiership, Philippe Clement’s side have had at least four shots on target on 10 occasions. In the games they failed, it was largely because of a lack of accuracy. They had 15 shots total against Kilmarnock and 17 against Aberdeen.

In Europe, Rangers posted five shots on target against Malmo and Lyon, while they had seven in their last match against FCSB.

Olympiacos are a team that has been giving their opponents scoring chances in Europe. They have conceded at least 1.4xG in each of their three previous games, showing that they are by no means a strong defensive team.

With nine goals for Olympiacos this season, El Kaabi is their runaway top scorer and clearly their outstanding threat for Rangers prior to this encounter.

He sits second among all players in the Europa League with six shots on target in total. Only Samu Omorodion of Porto with seven has more. He has 2.07 per 90 minutes, which is twice as much as any other Olympiacos player.

He’s proving to be a consistent threat across multiple matches, after managing one shot on target against Lyon, he had three against Braga and a couple against Malmo.

The striker comes into this game high in confidence after scoring in each of his last three matches, so he’ll be happy to take shots at goal whenever the opportunity presents itself.

This is a long price to have just one single shot, largely because his overall stats this season are skewed by the fact that he has played as a right-back in domestic football. Has been shifted forward to a right-wing role when playing in continental competition, and from this more advanced role is posting the type of shot count associated with an attacker.

He ranks fourth among Olympiacos players in terms of total shots in the Europa League with four and has at least one shot in each of his previous three Europa League matches, while he has also hit the target on at least one occasion.

Even when deployed as a right-back, he is very much a forward-thinking player, as highlighted by the fact that he has three assists and a goal from this area in the Greek Super League, where his role is similar to the attacking one that James Tavernier has had for Rangers over the years.

Rangers have been reliant on Cerny offensively in recent weeks and that is likely to manifest itself in the Czech winger posting a significant shot count in Greece this Thursday.

Cerny is joint first in the whole of the Europa League when it comes to having shots. He has taken 13 in total, tied with Hoffenheim’s Adam Hlozek and Lyon’s Corentin Tolisso. Rangers’ next best is Tom Lawrence with 10, and he is struggling with injury ahead of this game.

Cerny posts 5.60 shots per 90 minutes, which makes him the fourth-highest in this regard in the competition.

He has also had at least two shots in each of his last 10 matches for club and country across the Nations League, Scottish Premiership and Europa League.

Bajrami is emerging as an increasingly important player offensively for Rangers after signing from Sassuolo late in the summer transfer window. This should be particularly evident in this game because of the injury that threatens to keep playmaker Tom Lawrence, who is second for shots in the Europa League for Rangers.

Bajrami has played eight times for Rangers in the Premiership and Europa League. In these matches, he has only failed to muster at least two shots on one occasion, he is currently on a five-match streak in this tournament of having at least a couple of efforts.

Bajrami has scored in each of his last two games and has shots on target in four successive matches, so will not be lacking in the confidence to have an effort at goal.

He also posts a high number of minutes in his games and has only once been taken off before the 75-minute mark when playing for Rangers in Premiership and Europa League action.

Rangers’ matches this season have typically produced a significant card count, with four of their last seven outings yielding five or more cards across the two teams involved.

Games with fewer than five cards are also something of a novelty for Olympiacos, who have seen at least this figure in seven of their last nine matches. Two of their three Europa League matches have trigged this number of cards.

Referee Sascha Stegemann boasts a high card count across his matches this season, with 72 cards given out in just 11 games. This works out at an average of 6.55 per match.

The atmosphere will fuel the possibility of a higher card count, with the home fans set to create a red-hot arena for the teams to play in. The probability of this being a relatively even match also increases the possibility of cards as it will likely be tight until the end.

Rangers have won more corners than their opponents in each of their last seven matches, and while it may be risky to back them in a Corner Match Bet at 3.50, Philippe Clement’s side are steadily picking up significant numbers in terms of these situations and can be more safely backed to claim at least four.

The Ibrox outfit have won at least four corners in each of their last five matches dating back to the clash against Lyon, in which they still picked up three, despite being wholly outplayed in that encounter. Against Motherwell at the weekend, they had eight.

Rangers have won at least four corners in two of their three European matches to date, although have yet to get above that figure.

Meanwhile, Olympiacos have conceded at least four corners in each of their three previous Europa League matches, with the tally of 16 against them stacking up as the joint 11th-highest in the competition.
