Marc Guehi committed two fouls and contested 17 duels against Everton last time out, taking his foul tally for the season to three across the opening seven matches (0.43 per 90).

This isn’t a standout average but it’s worth noting that Guehi averaged 0.71 fouls committed per 90 across his 34 Premier League appearances last season so i’m not totally put off by his low average at this early stage of the season given that it’s a tiny sample size compared to last campaign.

Guehi committed a foul in both head to head games against Bournemouth last season, contesting 22 duels across the two encounters and picking up a yellow card in the clash at the Vitality Stadium. 

This would suggest that Bournemouth are the perfect opponent to draw fouls from Guehi with their intense pressing style often forcing a rise in the opponents foul average as well. This was true in both clashes last season with Palace committing 12 and 13 fouls - higher than their average across the campaign.

Guehi lines up on the left hand side of Palace’s back three making his most likely opponent David Brooks who has won five fouls across his seven Premier League appearances so far this term (0.98 per 90). He could also find himself tested by Ben Gannon Doak later on in the game who averaged 1.26 fouls won per 90 in the Championship last season.
