Fixtures for:Saturday 11th April

Burnley v Brighton

Premier League

15:00

Brighton to Win @ 1.70

This is a cracking price for a Brighton side who are hitting a patch of impressive form. The Seagulls have won four of their last five matches and are now back to being just five points outside the European places.

The evergreen Danny Welbeck has been in a rich vein of form as well. He’s now netted 12 times this season, including four in his last five outings. Perhaps not a start studded team individually, but Fabian Hurzeler has got his side performing very efficiently as a unit.

Burnley may not be mathematically relegated, but it looks bleak for The Clarets who are 10 points adrift and have won just once in their last 10 games. The reality is, their squad isn’t strong enough for this level. They’re also further weakened by the absence of Josh Laurent who was sent off before the international break.

I’m expecting a professional performance from the visitors, as they look to stay in the race for the top six.

Southampton v Derby

Championship

15:00

Southampton to Win @ 1.75

Now, Derby are no mugs. In good form themselves, and chasing a place in the play-offs, this is a massive game for both sides. However, I can’t look past Saints at the price on offer here. You’d struggle to find a side anywhere who are in such exceptional form.

They’ve won 13 of their last 15 matches in the league and are unbeaten in all comps since mid January. Of course, they also recently toppled Arsenal with that brilliant FA Cup performance.

Their poor start held them back from an automatic promotion place, but play-offs now look very likely and they’ll be incredibly hard to stop. Every team's nightmare is coming up against a side who arrive in their play-offs in good form - Saints form is exemplary.

Ross Stewart is back fit and scoring at a key time, which is another bonus. I was blow away by how good Leo Scienza was against Arsenal, and his league form has been brilliant too with six goals and eight assists in the league.

Stoke v Blackburn

Championship

15:00

Blackburn Draw No Bet @ 2.00

Blackburn have come into a bit of form recently, avoiding defeat in five of their last six matches in the Championship, which has been important for the away side here as they were just starting to slip towards the drop zone.

The Championship xG table suggests that Blackburn have been quite unlucky over the course of the season. They’re underachieving their xG by 14 goals in the Championship this term - the biggest differential of any side in the division.

They’ve been pretty stubborn on the road as well, avoiding defeat in 11 of their 20 away matches. Stoke don’t really have much to fight for, in typical Stoke fashion they sit mid-table in the Championship - not at risk of relegation, nor being in the race for the playoff spots.

This is a pretty good price with the insurance of a draw making this selection void if the game does end level. Blackburn should have more motivation than Stoke to pick up a result here with the slight threat of relegation, and you’d also expect their xG to level out a bit between now and the end of the season.

Barcelona v Espanyol

La Liga

17:30

Barcelona to Win & Over 2.5 Goals @ 1.50

Barcelona have won all 15 of their home games in La Liga this season, being the only side across Europe’s top five leagues that have a 100% win record at home this term.

Hansi Flick’s side have scored 47 goals across these games (3.13 per game) - suggesting that Barcelona could cover this goal line on their own on their way to collect all three points.

This is quite an important game for Barcelona in the La Liga title race, Real Madrid play before them this weekend so they are likely to be under a bit of pressure. The initial league meeting between the sides saw Barcelona run out 2-0 winners, though Espanyol did carry an attacking threat, with an xG of 1.60 from 14 shots.

Espanyol have seen 41 goals across their 15 away games in La Liga this term (2.73 per game), a metric that should naturally rise when facing up against a Barcelona side that have scored more goals at home than any other side in La Liga.
