It took me a long time to find the data for it, but this is a nice overpriced angle for Qatar v Switzerland on Saturday.

Jaseem Gaber will line up as one of Qatar’s midfielders here, they usually play with three players in the middle of the park and I anticipate that all three will have quite a bit of work to get through against a solid Switzerland side who are expected to dominate.

Gaber committed 13 fouls across just six starts in qualifying for Qatar (2.03 per 90), also maintaining an average of 2.03 tackles per 90 - showing just how often he looks to get involved in the action.

Gaber committed three fouls inside just 79 minutes in Qatar’s final warm-up game before the World Cup, with Qatar committing 10 fouls overall in their 0-0 draw against El Salvador.

This angle also landed via Super Sub in Qatar’s warm-up game against Ireland with Gaber being replaced by Karim Boudiaf who committed a foul to cover the 2+ line. Boudiaf averaged 1.06 fouls per 90 for Qatar during qualifying, so he’s a good option to cheer on if Gaber does get replaced early.

Switzerland averaged 12.50 fouls won per game during qualifying, and should be in the ascendancy for most of this encounter given the clear gulf in class between the sides. Gaber’s main opponent is likely to be Grant Xhaka, who averaged 1.54 fouls won per 90 for Switzerland during qualifying.

There’s also Fabian Reider who will play just ahead of Xhaka and Freuler - he won seven fouls during qualifying (2.21 per 90), and is as short as 1.16 to be fouled here.

There’s clear value with this angle, it’s as short as 1.5 with other major bookmakers.
